posting from flickr and following the rules much easier. You need to be using the new interface at flickr. Once you are on your photograph page, select the "Share This" drop down from the photo page. Then select the "Grab HTML" item below the photo. Select your size and choose the BBCode option below the photo. Copy all of the links and text in the resulting window above and paste it into the Nikon cafe window. Simple as that.
If you are not using the new interface:
Could we get one of the admins to add the info in this thread below to the FAQ on how to post photos. Specifically, posting from flickr seems to be a challenge for folks and based on flickr's terms of service posting photos from flickr requires a link back to the photo's page in addition to posting the photo. So, in this thread http://www.nikoncafe.com/vforums/showthread.php?t=106975 There's a good explanation of how to do it from flickr that I think would go well in this "How to Post" FAQ...or just use the info below. I see a note from someone wanting to work with someone that has a flickr account. Feel free to contact me and I can help.
<edit to add more info>
Here is the format for posting from flickr [ URL=<path to main image page>][ IMG ]<address of photo> [ /IMG ][ /URL ]
The path to the main image in the URL block should be the link or URL from the photo's main page site. The "Address of Photo" enclosed in the IMG code on the other hand must be a path to a jpg of the photo. This path is found under the photo on flickr after selecting "All Sizes", then select a size of the photo you desire. Below the photo that comes up are two blocks of code. The first is html (used for posting on flickr) the second block is the path to the image's jpg and this is the one you must use in the code above. On flickr this is called: 2. Grab the Photo's URL
In addition, you must remove the spaces from the code above, they are inserted so they display as opposed to expecting links and images.

Posting Images from Flickr
From the flickr Community Guidelines http://www.flickr.com/guidelines/
• Do link back to Flickr when you post your Flickr content elsewhere.
The Flickr service makes it possible to post content hosted on Flickr to outside web sites. However, pages on other web sites that display content hosted on flickr.com must provide a link from each photo or video back to its page on Flickr.
Not only is this a part of the flickr Community Guidelines (aka Terms of Service) with flickr, but it just makes good sense. When you link to a photo on flickr, the Exif data is not attached to the photo as with some other hosting sites. So, linking back to the photo page is nice because others can click on your photo, get to the photos page and then from there, they can select the more properties dialog on flickr to see your exif information if you included it in your upload.
Steps for linking images from flickr (Short Version):
[ URL=<path to main image page>][ IMG ]<address of photo> [ /IMG ][ /URL ]
Steps for linking images from flickr (Long Version):
1. Sign in to your flickr account.
2. In a different window, open your reply or post at the cafe so that you can paste what you copy from flickr into the cafe post
3. From your flickr photostream, Select the image you want to link to and go to that photo
4. At the top of the image is a box titled "All Sizes" with a little magnifying glass with a + (plus) sign in it. Click on this icon to get to the all sizes page.
5. The default page displayed is the "Large" page and this most likely will be the image you want to link to. If it is not, just select the different size at the top of the image. (Note: If you upload full res images to flickr, pick the large or medium size for displaying at Nikon Cafe. If you want someone to be able to see your full res image, then leave all sizes available for them to select on flickr rather than displaying this version on the Cafe).
6. At the bottom of this picture will be two boxes. The first box is titled "1. Copy and paste this HTML into your webpage:" If you have ever tried to use this on Cafe you know this one does not work. This box works really well when posting on flickr, but does not work for the cafe. For the cafe, you need the code from the second box titled: "2. Grab the photo's URL:"
7. ThePhoto's URL is only one part of the equation that you will need. The Photo's URL is the link to the photo, but not the link to the photo's page. So, to get the link to the photo's page, just select "Back" from the all sizes tab. This will take you back one page in your browser to the photo's page. You will need the URL from this page to go along with the URL from the size of the photo you want.
8. To insert this info into a post on the cafe, think of it as inserting an image and a link together. The code that needs to go into the Cafe post needs to be formatted like this:
[ URL=<path to main image page>][ IMG ]<address of photo> [ /IMG ][ /URL ]
This is a combination of the insert image and the insert Link icons.
Notice that the IMG code is embedded inside the URL code. The first path to main image above should be the URL of the Photo's page. The second path should be the URL to the size of the photo you selected from the second box of the "All Sizes" page.
The first one will look like this: [ URL = http://www.flickr.com/photos/xxxxxxxxxx/123456789/ ] The XXXXXXXX will be your flickr site name, the 123456789 will be a random number assigned by flickr to your photos page.
The second path will look like this: [ IMG ] http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4053/123456789_9a016da77f_b.jpg[ /IMG ]
Put the two together in your post like this:
[ URL =http://www.flickr.com/photos/xxxxxxxxxx/123456789/][ IMG ]http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4053/123456789_9a016da77f_b.jpg[ /IMG ][ /URL ]
9. Preview or confirm once you post this that the photo you want appears and that by clicking on the photo you are redirected to the photo's page at flickr.
Other flickr tip:
To add your flickr page to your signature, go to User CP and edit your signature.
Add the following code:
[ url ="http://www.flickr.com/photos/xxxxxxxxxxx/"][size=1]My [ b ][ color="RoyalBlue" ] flick [ /color ][ color = "Magenta" ] r [ /color ] [ /b ][ /size ][ /url ]
Replacing xxxxxxx with your flickr home page of your photostream. To get this URL, sign on to your flickr account. Select your photostream. Copy the URL from the photostream and paste into the code. Remove the extra spaces in an around the brackets
