This report is interesting. We are in lockdown and the main problem for me is food shortages. The reason is panic buying. There has been a billion pounds (=$1.2billion) of extra food bought by people. As soon as items arrive at the supermarkets they are snapped up. The online delivery services for food have all pretty much...

The name of the account, and the name of the folder for the user of the account, can be different. This is perfectly normal. You don't have a user folder called Justin Pleasant. It is called Karen. Whatever you do don't try to make them the same. You will end up having to reinstall Windows. I...

No, they can use either. The first time they run, they test the computer to see which is fastest, and then it stores that setting. (One can change it manually).

It is somewhat helpful. That 8% doesn't mean the probability of you dying is 8%, it just means that 8% of that group of people die. Since you are healthy, the chances are that when you catch it and your case gets added to the statistics you will be in the 92% not the 8%. There are other...

I'm sure the short term impact would be severe. But after it dies down, and certainly after a vaccine is available, I don't see why there couldn't be a good financial recovery. As we see from Italy and China, the vast majority of deaths are people who are not working (60+), so it should not...

I spray plenty of Windolene onto the screen. Windolene is sold here in supermarkets for cleaning windows. The label says it cleans with vinegar. The US equivalent is Windex but I think that has ammonia in it. Then I wipe the screen down with a paper towel. Works brilliantly.

Yes, negatives in particular have a huge dynamic range. But if you use a good 16 bit scanner it will produce 16 bit TIFFs, accurately covering the whole dynamic range. If you were limited to using a camera, you could even take multiple exposures and combine them using HDR techniques. And if you...
