    Still enjoying my D300

Thank you all for your views which are appreciated. There are several reasons for mentioning the D300 but one is that I still get a lot of pleasure from using it. Despite and because of its age and shortcomings it does allow me to inject emotion into images when necessary. I cannot see my...

    Causing controversy!

Thank you for your comment Heiko, which is much appreciated. I notice you are a tour guide for Israel. My daughter lives near Nahariya and Akko, and she is a successful Israeli artist exhibiting in hotels across the country.

    Causing controversy!

Wow! Many thanks for such a positive view. I expected to be shot down for this post from all directions. I was really experimenting in how far I could go to destroy an image but leaving some recognition of the scene. It was not staged in any way. However in my excitement at getting...

    Causing controversy!

I don't expect many plaudits for this image, but I like to try to post images that create emotion and are not necessarily sharp, or well lit nor using the latest camera products. I use my old D300 which is solid, trusty and reliable and allows me to use its failings to suit my purpose...

Thank you all for your supportive comments which mean a lot to me. Ted (pictureted)... I agree with you that this is the best guitar produced by Yamaha and as good as any of the famous makes. In addition to this one I have an MSG deluxe with the Kahler style bridge/tremolo unit, but not as...

A couple more from the Autumn sunset session with the D300 as the sun got lower and more orange. Grain is visible as the images are quite heavily cropped.

Thank you both. I am pleased how such old gear still performs well which I bought when it was first introduced in about 2008.

    Spring is arriving finally

Thanks Pa for your appreciation. The seasons here in the UK haven’t followed the norm for the last two to three years with us having two flowering periods throughout the year and unseasonal temperatures. Not sure what the reason is for this anomaly. In contrast it seems the US has experienced...

    A Cheapy Nikkor Lens

Thank you all for your comments. Yes, this is in no way a marvellous lens by today's standards, however it is a good walk about lens for me for occasional use as it's light and innocuous. But it's AF is noisy and it does suffer from some serious purple fringing at wide apertures.

Tried out this very cheap Nikkor a 35-70mm f3.3-4.5 that no-one seems to like. However I'm quite impressed. Nikon D300 used with Velvia Picture Control.
