    Z APS-C

HaHa, yes like most people I buy to use not as an investment, but I have invested my money into Nikon so would like think that there is retained value going forward. However, my worry is that if Nikon diversify too much and then end up in the situation where they cannot deliver in the longterm...

    Z APS-C

I think that Nikon launching a ZDX line is bonkers, Nikon are up against it launching Z lenses and rumour has it that they are going to do a new camera line based on the Z camera with a DX sensor. I just don't get it, Nikon don't have the resources of Canon or Sony so will struggle to make...

    Z APS-C

I just don't get why Nikon would make a Z (DX) range, if they want to get the vloggers then revamp the existing DX range of cameras and create a specific vloggers camera from one of those models. The existing DX range is good, there are some great sensors out there so use them with some useful...

Lack of Z lenses - Nikon lets have an update please

I'm quoting the many many comments from pro photographers on forums, in the press, on YT, all of whom wouldn't move to the Z cameras because of; lack of eye focus, poor AF tracking, poor buffer rates, single slot memory card, expensive memory cards, no grip. All of these and many more issues...

    Z APS-C

Why would Nikon make a DX Z camera? There is no logic in Nikon going down that route IMHO. If Nikon want a vlogging camera then make the next camera a FF Z5 with a fully articulating screen but not a DX version of a Z camera.

Why I (and I think many others) wont be buying many Z mount lenses for quite a while....

I love my Z7 and 24-70/f4, I went for the Z7 rather than the D850 as I wanted to reduce the size of my kit-bag, the D850 is a lovely camera but it is a big beast and that wasn't the direction I wanted to go. I have a bag-full of F mount lenses, AF and MF, but I am not keen on using the FTZ as it...

Lack of Z lenses - Nikon lets have an update please

A vertical grip is the one thing that I don't want, I had them years ago on my cameras as I shot a lot of spot but as my interests have changed this is something that I am happy to give up. Nowadays I want quality in a smaller camera size, but we are all different and have varying needs.

    New Lens announcement - Nikkor Z 85mm f1.8s

Excellent news from Nikon, link to UK website announcement below https://www.nikon.co.uk/en_GB/product/nikkor-z-lenses/auto-focus-lenses/fx/single-focal-length/nikkor-z-85mm-f-1-8-s

Lack of Z lenses - Nikon lets have an update please

Rumour of a Nikon Z camera grip, unfortunately not seen or heard of since the launch, and it wasn't going to be like the D series grips so would lack functionality. However it hasn't been mentioned since so it may have been scrapped or is being re-designed.

I would agree but I would also get them to look at Fuji if the didn't specifically want FF

Lack of Z lenses - Nikon lets have an update please

My issue is the lack of lenses, why issue a pro 24-70 when there is already a 24-70, why not a 70-200 pro or non pro first? Why when you have three lenses covering 24mm launch a 24mm prime, why not an 85mm and increase the range? There have been no updates from Nikon on the lens road map (yes I...

Lack of Z lenses - Nikon lets have an update please

To my mind Nikon have gone astray, their road map is flawed and the wrong mix of lenses have been released. I'm not bothered whether they release Pro or non pro lenses all I am looking for is a better mix than what is currently available, yes there is a 70-200/f2.8 due this year, whether it is...

Nikon Z9 - Things I'd Like To See

Nice thoughts on a Z9 but how about we get some Z lenses first? There are two perfectly capable Z cameras out there, they may not be perfect, but they are very very good, but there is a lack of Z lenses, so before Nikon brings a new camera to the market they need to get the next 7 lenses on the...

Lack of Z lenses - Nikon lets have an update please

I have no wish or intention to jump ship to any other brand but as I have stated I am concerned that the Z series of lenses isn't growing / developing as quickly as I had hoped for. The 58mm Noct was part of the launch advert but where is it, the longest lens that we have in Z mount is 70mm but...

Lack of Z lenses - Nikon lets have an update please

Yes, that's just it, it is all we have to go on, we are all but year in from the initial announcement and the sound of silence from Nikon is deafening. I love the system I just wish that there was more information available that showed what was coming to allow us to plan our future investment...

Lack of Z lenses - Nikon lets have an update please

I love my Z7 + 24-70/f4, it is such a take everywhere combination and the results from it are excellent. But.......... We are seriously lacking in Z lenses and as far as I can see there is no news from Nikon to tell us what is going on, there are 3 zoom lenses that cover 24mm and one of the...

    Who Needs Z7's High Resolution

With 90% of my images being taken on a Z7 with the kit lens attached, I find that I don't want to faff about changing lenses and carrying a big kit bag (most of my images are taken whilst out walking/hiking), so it is great to have all those pixels around if I my subject is a bit further away...

    Nikon 24-70/2.8 S is shipping

Ricci Talks on you tube has an updated video on the Z24-70/2.8, this time comparing the lens with the 'kit' 24-70/4. Interesting comparison between the lenses.

    Nikon 24-70/2.8 S is shipping

Just watched this, it looks as though the Z range is giving the F mount a major beating, but I wonder how the 'kit' Z24-70/4 compares to the Z24-70/2.8, many of us have the f4 version and will be very interested to see whether the f2.8 version is worth the additional outlay.

Am I the only one disgusted with Nikon ...

No, an adapter is simply a device to allow two 'somethings' with different fittings to be coupled together. In the case of the FTZ it allows the connection of a male lens mounts to a female camera mount, so if you are the owner of 40 year old glass as I am, this old glass can be used on the...

Agree, an adapter is simply the way to connect two items that have different fittings.

Am I the only one disgusted with Nikon ...

Err, not sure that you are correct, an adapter is simply a device that allows connection of something with one type of fitting to something that has a different type of fitting.

Am I the only one disgusted with Nikon ...

I would love to be able to use AFD lenses on my Z7 with full AF functionality as there is some great glass appearing at competitive prices on the secondhand marketplace. However Nikon have said that if you want to use AFD lenses on your Z camera you can but it will be MF only, Nikon have also...

    Another Z model soon??

Totally agree, I don't see Nikon having a Z camera with a DX sensor, that would be an illogical decision - why waste that lovely new big mount with a crop sensor? How about a Z8 with a FX+ sensor, say 70mp, the lens mount could take a slightly bigger sensor, compete with the Fuji GFX range which...

Neat article about the 14-30 f4S

I am happy with f4 zooms and f1.8 primes, for me the key for moving to Mirrorless was to reduce the weight on my back and shoulders, I understand that it will take a while to get a good lens selection on the market but I was hoping for the lenses to be smaller. I also understand that a new...

Neat article about the 14-30 f4S

If a 70-200/2.8 is $2600-$3000 that will translate to £2600-£3000 in the UK (exchange rates never seem to apply on camera gear :(), in which case i'm out - my F mount 70-200/4 will have to continue in service for the foreseeable. I so want Nikon to introduce some lower priced lenses, £500 for a...

    Nikon Z 14-30 f/4 S - Not So Great, or Copy Variation?

I understand that whilst a single 82mm filter works absolutely fine on the 14-30 if you double stack it will vignette, users of Lee Filters 100mm system cannot have the polariser ring attached to the holder or it appears in the frame, the NISI system works much better. Enjoy your trip to...

Neat article about the 14-30 f4S

Have a look at the YouTube channel Ricci Talks, Ricci works for Nikon school and has access to the new gear well before the YT pundits, I like the channel he seems fair with his reviews (but he does work for Nikon as has been pointed out), Ricci has been using the 14-30 for a few months so have...

    Nikon Z 14-30 f/4 S - Not So Great, or Copy Variation?

Have a look at a YouTube guy RicciTalks, he works for Nikon but appears to give unbiased reviews on their gear, he has had a 14-30 for a while and certainly rates the 14-30 very highly, when I have spoken with him at meetings he states that the lens is better than Nikon's own 14-24/2.8 and...

    Nikon Z6 - Image & Discussion Thread

I was laid off 18 months ago due to cost cutting, it hurt, you wonder why it is you and not someone else, was it something you did or didn't do, you search for reasons why. My company did look after me with a good pay-off which did make the separation a touch easier. The alternative for...

    Quality of adapter?

No issues for me using the 16-35/4 or 70-200/4 on a Z7 with the FTZ, the 50/1.8g also provides great IQ fine as do old MF lenses. To be honest I think that forums would be filled with comments if IQ was worse with the FTZ.

handholding at slow ss 6 or 7?

I have a Z7 with the 'kit 24-70', I find it great for hand holding at low shutter speeds, I am not the steadiest of people so a camera with IBIS was important to me, with good technique and following all the best practices I can read up on for low light shooting I have managed to get as low as...

    Z 24-70mm F4 produces nice bohke

I totally agree with the comments about the quality of the '24-70 kit' lens, it is an exceptional lens and sits on my camera 90% of the time. I have some AF primes and some aged MF primes to play around with if I need something faster but f/4 is normally good enough.

Neat article about the 14-30 f4S

The 14-30 is such a nice compact lens, not shot any images I could keep as it was attached to Nikons own Z7 when I had the opportunity to play with the lens but I can vouch for the facts that the lens focuses very quickly, handles very well and from the shots I looked at on the screen is sharp...

?: Question regarding the Exposure Simulation in the EVF

Just tried this on my Z7 on a grey day in the UK, ISO set manually at 2000, in S mode the metering bar comes on and the aperture value flashes when the camera cannot open/close the aperture beyond f4 or f22 depending whether you are increasing or decreasing the shutter speed, in A mode the...

    Considering a Z6

Welcome to the Z family (assuming all goes through okay), you will get so much from the camera, the 24-70 zoom is awesome, you can use AFS lenses fully via the FTZ and dig out all those old MF Nikkor lenses as using them is great fun with the EVF, Focus Peaking and the zoom function to check...
