    70-200: Tamron or Sigma

I tried out the Tamron at my local dealer on my D300. I was really disappointed with the autofocus speed, particularly at 200. I've not tried the Sigma.

    my first wedding! (D2oo & 70-200VR)

I really like #2. #3 seems a bit too high key; I lose the shape of her nose. I was looking at the family in the last shot thinking they were too beautiful. Then I realized you're from France and it all made sense.

I think the donut catch lights are creepy, especially when they surround the pupil like in #1.

I like it, particularly the skin tones in #2. Did you manage to fit a softbox in the bathroom?

    Skin Tones

Joe, I like your realistic variation. If anything it seems like the variation and flushing in her skin were minimized by the way you moved the colors around. The warm one seems a little too tan to be anywhere close to believable for the girl that we try to keep under sun screen. But, I'll...

    Skin Tones

She is freakishly white where she hasn't gotten much sun. And she does get patchy, flushed spots when she exerts herself. Thanks for taking the time to work on it and explain what you did. Thanks, Jeff. I agree that the image is way too blue. I'm pretty sure that's because she was in...

    Skin Tones

Wow, Joe. Thanks for the great feedback. Feel free to modify anything I post, so long as you make it better. Shouldn't be hard. If you grab the originals, I think you'll see that she really does have richly red lips. Her cheeks do tend to be flushed because she does tend to run...

In which shot below do you prefer the skin tones? I tried following the advice from here, but I didn't really like the result. I'm curious if that's indicative of my monitor not being as well calibrated as I thought or just my general bad taste. (Yes, I was sloppy and fiddled the color on...

'Kelley' First model Shoot, please Critique

In general it seems like this was terrific for your first go. I agree that the wide angle shots make her look skeletal, but that's probably considered a good thing by some folks. 3 makes her feet look like flippers because you've got the wide angle I'd like to see a different reflection in...

I really don't like the light in the first two, particularly in the first where her bangs throw hard shadows on her forehead. I definitely prefer the second pose. I really like the baseball and basketball shots. I wish the background in 6 had been darker or lighter or more out of focus...

    Need a "toddler fast" camera

The D80 works well for chasing my two year old, given adequate light. Putting a faster lens in front of the D90/D80 will deliver faster AF than putting a slower lens in front of a D300. f/1.8 allows much better AF than f/5.6. Caveat: I have no real world experience with the D300 or D90. My...
