I'm a rodeo photographer by trade, but got the oppertunity to shoot drag racing this weekend. (trackside) Any suggestions from those of you who shoot them regularly....Not a carrier move just a great opp. fpr me.
in my business, I shoot around 750 images in 3hrs. I have customers waiting at my trailer wanting to see those images. They buy no larger than 8 X 10 and for the most part only know good shots, not good photographs. So there is just no time to handle RAW.
Heres my question, a dumb one but mine. I'm shooting in low light (ISO 6400-8000) with a D3S. Raw is not an option. Will I get better results shooting fine over normal or will I just have more to work with in Photosshop if I bump to fine? i hope this makes sence!
New D3s, I have only shot it a few times. Some times when I push the button to review a shot I get nothing. Somtimes have to push it several times to see picture. Somtimes have to turn camera off and back on to see shot? Any suggestions?
What if you shoot in DX mode on the camera? My question is Can I use this lens succesfully on this body. I have no issue useing the DX mode on the camera. I just need a very reasonable priced wider angle lens for very little work.
I have been useing a 70-300 4.5 5.6 for both my day and night work, but it has a little problem allways finding focus at night. I have a new 70-200 2.8 comeing for my night work and I hope that does the trick.
I have not posted in a while, but we have been busey. Heres a couple we shot in December at the South Point in Vegas. They are a little soft but all in all I did'nt think to bad for ISO 3200 @ f4 1/500th.
Im sorry about the posting problems. This is what happens when you give an old man a new gadget. These where shot Saterday evening in failing light witch is common this time of year in my business. Normally this would require a flash, but not with the D3. This is why I switched to...
A while back I tried shooting my Canon at ISO 3200 and they looked like they where printed on sand paper. Maybe the point is that some of use new to the D3 are still amazed that at that ISO you can still get marketable work.
I shot the bareback rider at f5.6 and the other 2 at f4. As for the getting the backgrounds to blur I agree they would stand out better, but in my market the customers like to see their buddies in the background and the committees want to read the sponsors signs and banners. It maks my job a bit...
Sorry about the size of this photo. I am having a hard time getting a larger
picture on here. This is from our proofing site. I am not a member with
smug mug or any other site. I just have my web site and this proof site.
If you have any suggestions I would live to hear them.
Ok I'm going to try and post a couple of pictures, hope they come through. This was my firstshow useing the D3, therefore my first with a Nikon. They could have made life easier if they had agreed on left or right to zoom. What a great camera. I shot with both a 80-200 2.8 and a 70-300 VR. very...
Im sure once agin this is a stupid question but can someone explain the whole firmware deal to me. I have searched my manuel and came up with pretty much nothing. Is this like a high performance tune up for your camera? Do you get it by pluging your camera into your computor and down loading it...
