D850 availability: it is June 2018

It's June 2018 and D850s are still no where to be found. Was the press release a year ago done on April 1st? Was it a joke? Was Nikon bought over by Leica? I thought only Leica does this: makes a press release about a new body and considered it released but no cameras are generally available...

Critique Mono Lake in Mono (IMG Heavy)

Excellent renditions of this classic Ansel location. Is your monitor calibrated? It may be worthwhile to crank down the exposure of the highlights a little so that they will reveal more tonality and texture. I agree, this is a good find! I wish I can find this kind of treasures underneath my car...

    Zeiss Otus 55/1.4 bokeh

Excellent compositions and rendition by the lens. I think you will get so hooked by the contrast, resolution and Fore/Aft bokeh that nothing else will be able to satisfy except by may Leica lenses. I know I am with my 55mm and the 85mm.

    Showcase Nikon 105mm f/1.4 E

Not sure if it was just my eyes but the sample images all looked pretty low contrast. Clarity is on the lower side, too. Cannot tell if resolution is that great either. (Have to see the MTF diagram when it comes out). I'll let you early adopters show me your gorgeous images first before I commit.

What to bring for photography in a European trip?

After all the deliberation, I decided to use the Leica-M system because it was much smaller and more compact to pack. Here are some shots taken in the last few days: Mykonos, Greece Omaha Beach, one the D-Day landing sites. Palace of Versailles, also the location of the signing of The...

Thanks for the advice. I do not have a single zoom lens so I would have to make do with 3 primes, if I decide to bring the Nikon system; otherwise, the Leica would have to do.
