    Nikon D1 Camera Color Profile

Has anyone used the x-rite passport color checker software to produce a daylight camera profile for the Nikon D1? I have profiles for the D1x, D2x, and D3x but not the D1. I have a substantial archive of D1 images and would like to apply an actual profile for processing.

Replacing Read/Write Head on IDE Drive ?s

I had a Lacie drive fail recently where the power button flashed and there was a drive-like clicking noise coming from the case. The problem was not the drive, but the power supply. Lacie sent a new supply and the unit was fine. FWIW

    Why are my images yellow?

Open an image in NX2 and check the white balance settings. Switch it from "as shot" to daylight. If the image is corrected, the problem is in your camera settings. If not, it's in your NX2 settings.

    Using GPS with Other Gear

I'm considering a new GPS unit for my D2x/D3x. I've looked at the Pc-Mobile GN-1 and the Nikon GP-1. Both use a USB mini to 10pin to connect to the camera. My challenge is I like to also use my MC-36 remote at the same time. With my Garmin GPS there was no problem as I used a MC-35 to connect...

Intuos - Any 4 users? - Are you 3 users happy?

The work area of the Intuos 4 medium seems a little small if you are using a dual monitor setup and the physical size of the large is to big for my workspace. I must admit it's cool and the Wacom tech guy I spoke to recently indicated that the pen requires very little pressure to use effectively.

I have used CorelDraw for 14 years, currently X4, and I like it. I have recently added Illustrator as part of a bundle I bought form Adobe at a price to good to pass up. I believe that the inherent compatibility between Illustrator and Photoshop will prove a benefit in cross-program production.

    Nik Viveza

If you use Capture NX2, the control point function does a lot of what Viveza can do. It has a slight advantage of making the changes in the RAW image as opposed to a processed image for use in Photoshop. Viveza does offer the ability to correct older images without going back to the RAW.

    Sharpen AFTER resize ?

I always save a master corrected image, without sharpening, in the native size from the camera. I will then up size or downsize as the individual need requires. Only then do I sharpen the finished image and save it as a new file, but I never save the master corrected image with sharpening included.
