    My Z7 impressions

Thanks so much Jonathan for all your info regarding this. Day before yesterday I bought the Sony A7R iii, I am so happy I did. Also picked up the 55mm 1.8 and the 24-105mm F4. Today the Commlite arrived in the mail and I just tested it with my glued to the camera lens, 85 1.4G Nikon in the...

    My Z7 impressions

I also went to the look see in Vancouver, but at Broadway camera. Having already just rented the Sony A7Riii with a 55mm 1.8. and...having an unopened Z7 plus 24-70 (minus a back-ordered FTZ) in my hotel room. After trying the Nikon at the look see, I decided to open it to get a real test...

    Nikon Z Pics Thread

I was holding off, but when I saw a few minutes ago that Henrys had them in stock, I just couldn't resist ordering it, plus 24-70 and FTZ. I was very much considering the A7Riii but I do have lots of good Nikon glass...this is your last chance Nikon.. Hopefully it will get shipped and arrive...

Attended the Nikon Z Event in Los Angeles!

For me I am primarily portrait, followed by landscape and wildlife. After using mirrorless, which I find particularly good for me who has to put on and take off reading glasses all the time with a regular DSLR (we own lots of Oly) I still want full frame and a high MP for good cropping which...

Attended the Nikon Z Event in Los Angeles!

Thanks Jonathan! I had ordered the Z7 but cancelled yesterday. I am eager for a new camera, and particularly want mirrorless, but I like to get a camera and have it for years. So probably first generation isn't the way to go.

New Z6 and Z7 announced with in body stablization.

Was just watching the streaming from Nikon with the Nikon professionals. One a wedding photographer, one a fashion photographer, both used the pinpoint focus for critical wide open focusing, I didn't hear them mention focus peaking. I am pretty sure I remember seeing on a Nikon site that the...

New Z6 and Z7 announced with in body stablization.

That is why I did it...LOL I didn't check online for the spelling though, I was imagining peeking through the viewfinder closely at the focus.

New Z6 and Z7 announced with in body stablization.

Here is another review from Ross Harvey who had the camera for 5 days, he uses the focus peeking for critical focus, his mandate was using the 35 1.8. Nikon Z7 Review | Destination Wedding Photographer

New Z6 and Z7 announced with in body stablization.

I would love to be able to hold one also, problem is with Nikon it will probably take over another year before it is available in store :( I have really been checking out weights and sizes too. Would like to see the Sony in a store, hopefully some will have actually in stock soon. We own the...

New Z6 and Z7 announced with in body stablization.

I have been seconds away from ordering the Z7, but I think I am now going to wait for a while. I was sooo impressed with the focusing on the Camera Store You Tube on the A7Riii eye detect, I am so far just not seeing that accuracy on the Z7. I do more portrait than anything and tend toward the...

    Whats the best crop?

As a quick punch of a shot, I like the strong crop, but as a whole I find that the smaller crop is better. The composition is great, you start with looking at the batter and his expression, then your eye travels down the bat to the ball, on to the lady with her mouth open, around to the...

D500 - what do the extra FPS really buy you?

I mainly stopped doing bursts for the pain it was culling the images. I am going to be trying again in short bursts as you mention though. I think it will also work well for portraiture as you can catch fleeting expressions you may otherwise miss. Woot! will look forward to seeing your cat...

Osprey - first with the D500

That sounds great! I would be particularly interested in how well the outer focus points perform, and his thoughts on what he thought of it. No worries if not though ;)

Osprey - first with the D500

LOL I have both versions, old and new, but can't be pried out of my hands. If you get a chance, portraiture mainly, nice sharp eye. I used to love that lens on my D300 but full frame it isn't long enough.

Osprey - first with the D500

Well for the time being I just bought a new 300mm f4 E it is pretty nice :) lovely and light compared to my old version. Also a 105mm micro. So have some playing to do. The crop factor will be great for both of those. Using my DF right now. Have you used any 1.4 lenses on the D500? I would...

Osprey - first with the D500

Wow! what a great start. Number 3 is just fantastic. I am still going to keep an eye out for a little while just in case any issues start to occur, after getting a bit burned with my D800 I am not keen to be dealing with Nikon over fixing any early issues. Must say I am itching to get one...

    D500 is here!

Pretty sure this will be in my hands as soon as I know it has no QC issues. Got a bit burned with the D800. I like the crop with my 50mm and 85mm. 1.4 and have really missed it. Saw on F stoppers that they think no AA too, that would be great.

    Any vegetarians in here?

Interesting! I am seeing a lot of people now focusing on clean food. :) glad you are feeling better and doing well on it. Last year I also started to eat cleanly, but for me it is Paleo. Grass fed meat, hormone antibiotic free chickens etc. no grains but occasional white rice. organic fruit...

How to Treat Canine Upset Tummies?

You can get the good canned pumpkin from the dog stores. Specifically for this. :) It is called tum yum or something like that. It works best for the runs though I find. Otherwise chicken and rice as suggested or some pepcid can really help a lot. You can look online for the dosage. And...

    How Old Are You?

Seems I am in the majority at 54 :) I only just realized that I was supposed to have a pic of me in Avatar, LOL before I had a shot that I had taken of my daughter. This shot is one she took of me. I would have looked awfully young for my age.

    Second Strap

I love the upstrap. The one without the quick release is a very strong but thin strap, and the rubber part isn't too big, but really grippy so it doesn't slip off your shoulder or whatever.

I want this guy's camera bag!

Between hubby and I we certainly have quite a few now. We are agreeing that one of the best for general usage is the 12-35, that one is his, but he managed to do a lot better than me recently when my Daughter and Granddaughter came to visit. I, with mainly primes, found I never seemed to have...

    $99 for Olympus 40-150 zoom

Pretty darn good then  I am tempted :) I used to like the 18-200 Nikon decently for travel on the D300, but still found the rig pretty heavy, so usually out all day just took the lightest 50 1.8. Sorry Frank  I have been derailing your thread  Congratulations on...
