First flowers of Spring in NYC...

It's a daffodil or narcissus. In German it's also called an Easter bell ("Osterglocke").

    mcs - PictureBlog - 2010 - Update: Dec. 26.

Very inspiring, Michael, as always. Beautiful black and whites, great ideas like flashing the snow in the sky and I´m still laughing about "Prost". Can't wait to see more.

Thinking of getting a 10.5 Fisheye

I decided to get the fisheye after looking at Edward's and Ruy's photos. They've both prooven that it's a very useful ultra wide angle lens. And of course, it's also a lot of fun. I tried to do the July One Prime Challenge with it last year (link in signature). Here's a choice of those: The...

quick "?" for those with the nikon 10.5mm fisheye...

Now that you made me try it I found a slight clicking when moving it back and forth. Hadn't noticed it during a month of shooting on the July One Prime challenge.

July One Prime Wrap-Up & Discussion

Sorry, David and Aaron, to be late for the wrap-up which I think is a very good idea. David, I'm a bit surprised about your first choice, but would love to hear what made you choose it. Personally I really liked the your second pick plus the one from July 28, the chimneys against the blue sky...

Thanks, David, for taking the initiative for this challange and also for sharing your photos with us. I especially like your eye for details in combination with great colors - as in the shot from July 28, the chimneys or the staircase in the green.

    July one prime challenge '09 - Frank - 10.5mm f/2.8

Looks like it's over... Thanks everybody for looking and commenting. I didn't nearly find the time I had wanted to shoot with the fisheye. So I didn't learn as much as I had wanted and I posted two photos less than planned. I've found some subjects to be very well suited for this lens - like...

    July one prime challenge '09 - Frank - 10.5mm f/2.8

Day 27 The squares around the cathedral are quite impressive - so is what the Fisheye-Hemi plugin does in some situations. I know my post processing isn't. 1/800s, f/8, ISO 200, corrected with Fisheye-Hemi and pp'ed to death in Aperture and Photoshop. Thanks for looking.

Of the last photos I really like Day 16. I had registered for the photowalk last year, but couldn't go. It was around the lighthouse in La Coruña (Torre de Hercules) which has just been named world heritage.

    July one prime challenge '09 - Frank - 10.5mm f/2.8

It is quite an unusual staircase. I'll post more of it. The most challenging thing right now is to find enough time to go "fishing". Seriously, I find it very hard to previsualize shots in my head. It's not only the angle that I can't foresee it's also the distortion that changes...

Day 15 Still not feeling well today. But obviously it wasn't the swine flew. Hope to take the camera out tomorrow. For now here's another one from that tripple staircase: 1/30s, f/2.8, ISO 800. Yes that's my shirt in the lower left. At 10.5mm it's sometimes hard to avoid becoming part of the...

Day 14 Sorry, no shooting today either. So here goes the last of the first shots I announced. Exposure was way off, tried to save it in Aperture. The purple fringing can get pretty obvious. I have to find out how to control that.
