[EXPIRED] Nikon Tc-14e Ii Teleconverter. Mint. (will trade for Roku 3)

Nikon AF-S TC-14E II 1.4x Teleconverter ** I'm looking for a working Roku 3 and will take that in trade + cash if you have one to sell ** This is grey market. I have literally only used this maybe 4 times. It sits in a drawer and is doing me no good. It is in flawless, like new condition...

    Replace Android with CyanogenMod?

In no particular order ( since what's best varies for each person): HTC One Samsung Galaxy S4 LG G2 Moto X Nexus 5 (not released, but likely to be announced inAbout a week) Note that there are "Google play editions" available for both the gs4 and HTC one right from Google play store. Very nice...

    Replace Android with CyanogenMod?

Here's the thing. I understand wanting to get the most you can out of a device you spent good money on. Who wouldn't? But in all honesty....you will simply have a much better experience with a newer device (and more features with a newer version of stock android or Cyanogenmod). This doesn't...

    Anyone got a spare $80K....

Here what I don't get. Why, if your trying to sell an $80k lens...can you not at least get the white balance correct in your product photos?! Come on...it can't be just me that noticed that!

Password Manager - replacement for SplashID?

Your right. It is not particularly secure if a trusted device is compromised/stolen. At least on my phone, even without a password, the key file needs to be manually broswed to and selected in order to open the database. That means you need to know what the key file name is and where one the...

Password Manager - replacement for SplashID?

Well I'm too late...cause I was going to suggest KeePass is exactly what your looking for. :) It's what I use every day. I sync it through Google drive for my work PC, home PC, and Android phone. For me this is not is not an issue because: 1) I independently back it up though my usual backup...

    Noisy D7100 images

You need to re-size the D7100 down to 12MP if you want something closer to an apples to apples comparison. The was done for the D800 when it was compared to the D700, so it's only fair to do the same for the D7100.

    SkyDrive for backup?

I would rephrase this as "it is completely crazy to trust the cloud for your ONLY backup." Cloud backup has it place, as your secondary or tertiary backup. And if you have no other offsite backup than it is certainly better than NOT having something offsite. However...your points are valid...

    New Sigma 18-35 f/1.8....YES, 1.8

It's totally exciting! Kudos Sigma for pushing the boundry. DX needs more high end pro oriented glass. Now...for the really wide fast primes....how bout a 16mm f/2 or f/1.8 Sigma?

Looking for a camera for fast moving kids

I will definitely second this. While high ISO and fast primes and good autofocus system are fantastic things, and will let you get shots impossible for lesser compact cameras....it is not the only solution. I find there are often times when adding light (flash) nets you better/cleaner images and...

True Imaging 2013...any reason to upgrade?

I had to recover my OS drive a few months back. Yes it works. :) I'm on 2011 myself still and don't yet feel a need to upgrade. I'm only using as an image backup for my OS drive right now. I have different backups for data. I'd highly suggest that you actually TEST your backups occasionally by...

    SSD / System Upgrade Guidance?

Indeed...and this is why for those with reasonably large amounts of data I suggest having the cloud solution as a "backup of your backup." In other words...don't avoid it completely but perhaps make it your secondary or tertiary solution for recovery. More importantly...it serves as an offsite...

    Crucial M4 SSD (256GB) - bricked

This for certain. As for the spinners being proven tech, yes they are....but there is certainly no evidence that they are more reliable than quality SSD's at this point. In fact it is likely the opposite, though relatively speaking SSD's are fairly young tech. And they will only get better...

    notebook suggestion

You want a notebook with an IPS display (and perhaps one with something better than the usual 1366x768 resolution). Make that your primary need and you will quickly narrow down your choices. Personally I am digging the new Asus Zenbook Prime (UX31A series). 13.3" Ultrabook with a 1920x1080 IPS...

SSD upgrade to help with LR4?

5400 RPM laptop hard drives are some of the most painful things to live with. Even with a modern system and fast CPU, to me a system feels totally crippled with a drive like that. SSD have come down so much in the last 6 months it is hard not to recommend them to everyone now.

MacBook Pro w/ Retina vs 27" iMac

Yes.. it is only slight. Remember OP the imac also run mobile versions of the CPU's just like the MBP. So there is even less of a CPU power compromise as compared to the full desktop versions of the CPU's.

MacBook Pro w/ Retina vs 27" iMac

How about get the rMBP and simply add a 27" Thunderbolt display + keyboard/mouse. The MBP is plenty powerful to be our only/primary machine and this gets you the best of both worlds without actually buying a complete imac.

    Capture NX or Lightroom?

I throw my .02. My thoughts are similar to Randy. I used to be gung-ho for NX2. It could do incredible things and the built in U-point tech was a BIG plus, and something I miss a bit. I avoided Lightroom because I liked how NX2 read all in camera picture controls and applied them to RAW....I...

    Lightroom upgrade question

Basically do number 1. Lightroom 4 doesn't really upgrade or even replace 3...it stays separate and it will install side by side. There is no reason to install 3 on the new setup. However with the upgrade license you will have to enter both the upgrade serial and your original LR3 serial. Then...

LR4 - reorganizing photos after a HDD crash

    Online Backup - Privacy Question

Many of the online backup services already encrypt your data before uploading. For example Crashplan uses 128 bit blowfish encryption for the free version, and 448 bit blowfish for Crashplan+. In fact there are 3 levels of security you can choose from when using something like crashplan. First...

Cropping to specific pixel sizes in LR3.6

This. Crop to a ratio then simply export to long edge as a pixel size. As a matter of fact...you can enter the custom crop ratio as 960x540 instead of 1.78 to make it exact. You can then make an export preset that has the settings you need to spit out 960 whenever needed.

    Emergency help, please!!!

You need to start with your ambient exposure. Without using ND's, set your ISO to lowest (no auto-ISO!), set you shutter to max sync speed (1/250th) and your aperture will simply end up at the widest it can go for the ambient lighting conditions. Then add flash and adjust power for the exposure...

    The D40 still has it!

That is a big plus for the D40...and I'll miss it. Outdoor fill flash especially...made my SB-400 twice as powerful as it would be on another camera! I think I'll try partly disassembling the camera and seeing if I can free it up/fix it. Got nothing to lose now.

Well....guess what? It turns out that perhaps the D40 doesn't have it after all. Two nights ago...at shutter release 41,209...the D40 gave up. Shutter release locked up with an awkward sound and simply gives an error on screen stating "Error: Press shutter release again." No matter what I do...

    D400 rumors...

I am not so sure about that. If is either 1) more stripped down than people realize (certainly no more than the D7000 feature set, or 2) higher priced than people seem to be thinking (I think 1800-2000 is far more likely than 1500-1600)...then I think there is still room for pro body DX at...

Guys I'm using a D40 still, and I regularly use ISO 1600 for every day casual stuff and find it completely usable at that ISO. A D7000 would be far better.
