    Showcase Nikon 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 G AF-S

I like mine... sold my 70-200mm f2.8 and TC 20E III this week end. Took it out to shoot wildlife and birds in flight:

    Lens Rebates

No guilt here. But I told her I'll sell my 70-200 2.8 vr2 when KEH comes back down here... never used the lens anyway. But expert advice helped, and that's when quoting Randy closed the deal... It's all working well toward the $10,000 spendings necessary to get 100,000 American Airlines miles.

    Lens Rebates

Just received my backordered 80-400 from Adorama... I'm happy with the $400.00 instant rebate, 4% Adorama reward and the 4626 American Airlines miles. Net in my book : $2,111.59. Oh, when my wife asked, I blamed Randy!

    Lens Rebates

My wife just said: It's me! Talking about buying the 80-400, I was reading her the remarks on this tread and she said: enough already... just buy it.

Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VR II used prices

A few weeks ago, when KEH came down here, I was going to get around $1400 for my US VRII. Like new, used only twice, with the box, hood, caps and RSS foot. I was hoping for $1500-$1600, but I was told that they had over 70 in stock! Maybe next time.

    Fujifilm X-E2

X-E2 w/ kit lens Took mine for a walk in Miami Beach yesterday. While there is a lot of things I don't like about this camera, I'm pretty impressed with the metering... and of course the size and weight. All JPEG from the camera, Provia at default settings: f5.6, 24.3mm and 55mm...

Showcase Samyang 8mm f/3.5 fisheye DX

I bought this lens a while back after seeing the great photos in this tread... but never used it. So I decided to try it once before deciding, to sell it or not. D7100, 1/30s, f 5.6, ISO 3200:

    Fujifilm X-E2

Are you getting a X-E2 too? I already have a F-mount Samyang 8mm... wondering if I could use it on the X-E2 with an adaptor. Or else I'll sell mine next time KEH comes to town, and get the X -mount.

    Fujifilm X-E2

My E-X2 order with Amazon is "Preparing for Shipment"... looks like I'll get it before Thanksgiving. Now keeping an eye on the 27mm pancake for a price reduction. I can wait, but would like to get one before Easter, for my next trip.

    Showcase Nikon 300mm f/4 AF-S

Nice shot Alex. Amazon also has a 2% rebate on it. So $1055.54 now after the Chase Freedom 5% back and the Amazon 2% back! Update: As of 11/10, no more Amazon 2% back!

    Fujifilm X-E2

Was waiting for the pricing on Nikon Df. So just placed my order on Amazon for the Black X-E2 Kit. Amazon 2% back + Chase Freedom 5% back. Maybe I'll get it before Xmas! Plenty of time to change my mind though!

Upgrade to later than OS 10.6.8 & Compatibility with Adobe PS5

I use Mountain Lion on a Mac mini 2.53 Intel Core Duo, w/ 8GB im memory. PS5 runs without problem, so do the Topaz and Nik plug-ins. I don't know about Acrobat 8, but Acrobat Pro runs well on 2 recent minis at a customer of mine. It's a pain to update though, as I had to download all the...

    IOS version

I've been using my iPhone 4S on T-Mobile "Pay As You Go" plan, voice only, no data and I called them to de-activate texting. I have about $100.00 in credit, and I add $10 every year (actually 363 days) to prevent loosing them. My 4s was originally an AT&T phone on a 2 year contract, but they...

Nikon Manual Focus Glass - Part II

AI 24mm f2.0 Thanks Bart. Maybe I pushed the snake a bit too far. The pano shots were taken at the time of the year, when the sun is directly above in early afternoon, not casting any ugly shadows.

Nikon Manual Focus Glass - Part II

AI 24mm f2.0 Thanks Art. Don't forget that all the shots above are on a DX D300. It would be quite different on FX, as you surely know. The only full-frame pictures I have, were taken long time ago on my F3, and scanned... not the greatest IQ. Here is one:

Nikon Manual Focus Glass - Part II

AI 24mm f2.0 Thanks for your comments on my photos. I like them too, but reading reviews of this lens, I was not sure that they weren't any issues that my old eyes couldn't detect. Like you said AF is not an problem with this focal length. landscape or street photography, you just set it...

Nikon Manual Focus Glass - Part II

AI 24mm f2.0 Glad to hear that it works well on FX, especially on a D800E. I really don't need autofocus on this lens, so as you said I should keep it. Thanks for the kind words about my shots. Now that I use a D7100, I should try to use it more often.

Nikon Manual Focus Glass - Part II

AI 24mm f2.0 Well, that's one way to look at it. 35mm f1.8 maybe... but that's not wide enough. So I keep it.

Nikon Manual Focus Glass - Part II

    AI 24mm f2.0 Was wondering if I should keep it. I could get $200 for this 34 year old lens and do what? D300, ISO 200, f16, 30s D300, ISO 200, f8, 13s

    Zoo Miami

Now, what about the AI 24mm f2. I could get $211 for an EX+ on KEH.com... not trying to sell a 34 year old lens here, but just thinking what I could get that would be better for $200. D300, ISO 800, f8, 1/50s cropped

    Zoo Miami

William, Colin: thanks for your kind words. I made up my mind about the lens: Paroled Anyway the quoted price for a BGN condition on KEH.com is about $50. BTW the lens is damaged... dropped on the ground changing lenses in Petra! Result: chip on the inside glass surface, I was almost crying.

My old AI 50mm f1.4 was before a Parole Board hearing today... on its way to KEH. I don't know, maybe I keep it. I barely use it, but here one of the pictures I took with it, this century. What do you think? D300, ISO 2000, f4

Do filters hurt resolving power of lenses

For more than fifty years now, I've used filters... the best I could get. Following diglloyd's advice, I recently switched from Hoya to B+W, but I think that Hoya came with a new one... maybe next time.

    Considering a new D90 body - or the D7000

Thanks Jeff... you got me thinking about keeping my D-7000 as a back-up for my D-7100. I just finished packing it today, ready to ship tomorrow. Now I have to explain to my wife why I want to keep it.

    L-bracket for D7100

Thanks Carole. I got it, if I buy a plate for my D-7100, it's going to be universal. I use my plates so seldom, I don't need the lips... body contact is enough. How does your plate fits on your D-300. I am going to buy something size-wise like D-800 size or D-400, when and if they come out...
