Thank you so much for your guidance. I couldn't see what I was missing before your comment. Now, I can clearly see what was missing in that photo. It's still not the best but I think it's going into right direction. Thanks again Mike!

And here are couple of shots of MLK Memorial hitting with the sunlight. I tried one focusing on MLK and other on Cherry but not sure which one is better composition. I love your inputs on these as well.

Critique Blue Hour and the Cherry Blossom

I agree on cherry part being dark but I tried to bump up exposure little bit to make it more visible and that made whole picture little washed out. Here is the version with little more light and let me know what is your thoughts. And yes I got lucky about the wind on this photo. I have other...

Critique Blue Hour and the Cherry Blossom

I always took the cherry blossom after sunrise but tried something different this year and shot one in blue hour. Last year, I reached at Tidal Basin at around 6:30 am and couldn't find a single parking spot. This year, I decided to go bit earlier and took advantage of early morning blue hour...

Critique Great Falls Park, Potomac, MD

I think it is during PP when I was trying to change the water tone to bluish. Later, it gave me feeling of cold weather and I just left it. Haha good catch. It is reflection of narrow walking bridge I was shooting from. I tried to fix on PP but didn't get good results. I had no choice but left...

Critique Great Falls Park, Potomac, MD

I had been there many times to capture the silky water effect but returned empty hand due to construction of the bridge. Last Monday on the Presidents day, I took my chance and even though there were many areas under construction, the bridge from where I wanted to take a shot was open. While I...

    Three sisters Bridges, Pittsburgh

Yes, I was staying at Marriott and the guy who works there told me story about Steel HQ (used to be), the building which top colors represent the temperature back in old days etc. It was a good stay at Pittsburgh even though it was short. If you are from there, here is another picture I took...

    Pittsburgh downtown from Grandview Ave

It's been a while since I posted last time here in cafe. Been busy at work and travel. I was traveling to Pittsburgh from my work and brought my camera with me. I was lucky enough to get some time out of the work and visit this amazing location at Pittsburgh. My only complain to the steelers is...

    On the road again

Scenery is lovely and good angle. If I was there, I would try to take another shot pass the intersection. That way, I would avoid intersection, road sign and shadow on the road. I would also adjust the color as Nick suggested.

Thank you! I just noticed you are also from DMV area. I wanted to shoot Great Falls from that bridge but that seems to be close for construction. Have you been to that area recently? I may call them to confirm if they open the bridge to go to overlook. Thanks again for taking your time and...

    Lincoln's Statue in DC

Now, I know how all these come automatically to you guys (from experience). I also feel that having negative space on top and little bit more on the left enhance the picture. Can it be done in LR? If not, what is alternative and easy tool? For some reason, Photoshop scares me. LOL! Thank you both!

    Lincoln's Statue in DC

Yeah I wish I had some space at the top in my file. This is pretty much how I shot it. There is little more space on right which I cropped out. I tried and here is how it looks.

    Lincoln's Statue in DC

Hello Mike, Thanks for taking your time to reply in detail. I changed the white balance to give little sculpture feeling. I was not sure if I should leave little space on left or not but after your comment, I did leave the space (should I leave little more?) and looks good. The didn't want the...

I use Adobe LR and use it very lightly. I don't think LR is capable of doing that.

St. Mary The Virgin Church, Times Square

Thanks! I thought of that but then I thought of leaving it little bright thinking that it might represent the center or power point and should reflect little more light (to represent power). I will try another version with it underexposed like you suggested and see how it comes. Thank you!

    Top of Empire State Building

These two photos are taken with D700 (ISO 1600) handheld. They didn't allow tripod on top of building and I had to crank up ISO to get sharper image. One is before sunset and waited little longer to get another after sunset. I wish I would have taken them with D810. #1. Before Sunset #2...
