    Firewire 800 card reader

I haven't used any of the newer FW800 Card Readers, but I have a Lexar FW800 CF reader (able to daisy chain, but haven't purchased any additional readers). Anyway, it's leaps and bounds faster than any USB2.0 readers I've used. Haven't upgraded my Mac Pro with a USB3 card yet either ;)

    What does it all mean?

FWIW - I had the Tamron 17-50 without VC when I shot canon and I absolutely LOVED it. I never felt the need for VC - 2.8 was plenty fast for a zoom. Quality all around is a big step up from the kit lens. The only dislike I had was the whining of the focus motor. but that was a VERY MINOR gripe...

    fountain picture

are they shopped in? or are they just reeeeaaallllyyy small? I've shot at the friendship fountain before and it seems like they should be bigger. Maybe the crop is just throwing my eyes off - who knows Great idea, though - do you have any more from this set?

    Kata 3n1 Question

I have the 3n1-30, but haven't used it in months. I can fit a gripped D700 with the 70-200 mounted, hood reversed. It's a rather tight fit, but you don't have to fight to make it work. I also kept the 24-70, 85/1.8 and SB900 in the bag and various accessories up top. Great backpack. Now I find...

    Got my MB-D10 today!

When I turn to portrait mode, I just make sure the strap falls forward, in front of the camera so as to not get in the way of any buttons/knobs 8fps is just crazy fast - even for sports. I still haven't gotten over how quick I can fill up an 8GB card. This grip definitely beats the...

    D700 and 85 1.8

No AF issues here - lens is very very sharp. However, I find the bokeh a bit distracting. I tend to use the 70-200 more for portraits now. Below is a 100% crop. Converted in LR, exported with no resizing or sharpening, opened in PS, cropped and saved with no resizing or sharpening. Focus...

    Stupid ME

I almost typed "paperweight" but hardly anybody is in a windy office with a bunch of papers anymore, so I guess you're right. I find I get errors with my battery meter as well - D700/MBD10 combo, especially when VR is under heavy use....weird

your group shots look just fine - great, actually! as are all of the individual photos. when you say you have problems with the flash not firing every time, how are you triggering them? Lightroom raw vs. Raw Photo Processor

BIG YES!!!!!!!! I was lucky enough to buy mine off a friend for a big discount. Before calibrating, I knew that my prints would always come back a bit darker, and a little less red, and it left a lot of room for error and inconsistency. Now that I'm selling prints, that's not an option...

I went into the water and knelt with a D700/70-200 to get a good angle on my 5 year old son boogie boarding. One slip becomes a $4000 mistake. Now that I think about it, I'll never do that again!! One of my close friends actually puts her camera in a ziploc bag when she's on a beach session...
