I haven't used any of the newer FW800 Card Readers, but I have a Lexar FW800 CF reader (able to daisy chain, but haven't purchased any additional readers). Anyway, it's leaps and bounds faster than any USB2.0 readers I've used. Haven't upgraded my Mac Pro with a USB3 card yet either ;)

I almost typed "paperweight" but hardly anybody is in a windy office with a bunch of papers anymore, so I guess you're right. I find I get errors with my battery meter as well - D700/MBD10 combo, especially when VR is under heavy use....weird

I like the processing. However, there is a noticeable halo around the subjects/rocks that takes away from it, but not by much.

your group shots look just fine - great, actually! as are all of the individual photos. when you say you have problems with the flash not firing every time, how are you triggering them? If you're lighting with your SB800, then your shutter speed shouldn't be low at all, unless you had very dim...

Ditto -- I had a Canon 40D prior -- I recently picked up a friend's 40D and was completely LOST, there's just no thinking involved with the Nikon UI. Not to mention that sensor, WOO HOOOOOO

I use FxIF -- all the EXIF info is added on to the image properties window

I don't remember noticing a difference with Energizer Lithiums... maybe I'll pick up a few different kinds at my next wedding and cross my fingers. That overheating sure does get on my nerves - luckily, I haven't missed any essential shots due to it

BIG YES!!!!!!!! I was lucky enough to buy mine off a friend for a big discount. Before calibrating, I knew that my prints would always come back a bit darker, and a little less red, and it left a lot of room for error and inconsistency. Now that I'm selling prints, that's not an option...

It's a very cute picture - however, personally, I would just take another shot to make a postcard. You might have to put in a lot of work, only to get so-so results. you have a very capable kit, so go shoot! :)

I went into the water and knelt with a D700/70-200 to get a good angle on my 5 year old son boogie boarding. One slip becomes a $4000 mistake. Now that I think about it, I'll never do that again!! One of my close friends actually puts her camera in a ziploc bag when she's on a beach session...
