13 year Cicada photos

This Cicada flew into my car when I was making photos of Sissor-tailed Flycatchers. I guess it thought it safer than flying around the birds. Nikon D3S with 105mm VR macro lens plus SB900 flash. The last photo tells why. Nikon D7000 and 600mm VR plus 1.4X teleconverter.

Neat shots. These are the very same cicada we have every 17 years. When they have just come out of their pupa and are still all while, the dogs love to make a meal of them. When they get hard and butt ugly, the dogs won't touch them. We are supposed to have them again in 2016.
