17-35 wide open...

Lots of people say the 17-35 is not so great wide open... what do you think?

Just doing a little testing... 17-35... @35mm, 2.8, ISO 200, tripod

Actually, mine is great wide open at 35mm. Try it at 17mm. Mine backfocuses big time. If I focust at 35mm, then zoom out to 17mm, it'd be fine.

Sharpness is measured by comparing. I am among the ones who think the 17-35 is not sharp wide open.
Can you post comparative shots with a, let's say, 35 f2?

Ned... I don't have a 35 F2... and I am much too lazy to get another lens out right now. :biggrin: :biggrin: but here's another one just to piss you off :biggrin:

28mm @ 2.8, autofocus from about 2 feet away... cropped a little bit. Focus on the CS in the diamond.

With respect to #1, I think you should stop drinking that pre-ground stuff in the can and go get some decent coffee beans. You live 10 minutes from Fairway.:biggrin:
