    Hi Folks,

I recently bought a 17-55mm AFS lens to replace my 17-35. I appear to have a slight focus issue with it, that is for some reason it doesnt focus to infinity at 17mm up to around 28mm after that it focus to infinity fine.

Now i know there are several reasons for this and i know that Nikon do say that with a true zoom you must zoom first then focus and zoom back.

I really wanted to here from anyone else who has noticed this and how they got around it, or even if they decided to send it back to nikon and what they did.

    Many Thanks

  2. Have you tried cleaning the contacts? If not, sounds like a defective lens.

You def have an issue. My 17-55 is fine.

  4. The 17-55 infinity focus problem has become more widespread lately and is well documented. Have a look over at DPReview. I think it involves misaligned elements, and I also heard about uneven side/corner sharpness, like one corner or side will be totally OOF when it should be in focus.

  5. I had this problem with mine. It did not focus until f/11, when the DOF covered the problem, and was worse on the right side of the frame. Sent it into Nikon and they repaired it.
