Your best bet would probably be a local camera store. Some will allow you to reserve a lens, and will call you when it comes in. Worst comes to worse, check what day that their shipments come in and check back often.

Also, my brother just ordered one from Circuitcity.com. He called them and they had it in stock. If you are a AAA member you can get another 10% using a coupon you can get from their site. Couple that with 18 months 0% interest, I'm not sure you can beat that.

That's how I got mine. Reserved a copy at a local store and had it in my hands about a week later. I paid the normal retail price as well, I believe it was $750.

Still dont get this as they are available from every camera shop in Dublin now.

Why is there still a shortage ?

Perhaps Nikon has realized if they do not take care of their dealer network first, that they will have HUGE issues into the future. So, the local dealer, puts his order in, bam, gets the lens. Overflow is going to -etailers. Maybe?
