I don't see the problem or why people don't seem to like this. If you take the time to read the accompanying text you'll see that this is yes, one person's view, in his own style, of America. He's foreign-born, raised by French parents who had a fascination with America. This is his unique take on certain aspects of the country and daily life.
No big deal. I like seeing things through other peoples' eyes. Not all the photos grab me, but then again, most of the photos I create don't grab me either.
I suspect the word "best" was added by the buzzfeed editors.
I typically avoid articles that use that and other superlatives. There is enough god work, people, equipment, techniques, places, etc., without having to resort to ever-present hyperbole.
