Watched it once.. didn't like it... too creepy... I stopped watching halfway

To be fair, I only watch happy movies with happy endings. Movies that involve some kind of violence/emotions/drama bother me for a LONG time. I always read the plot + ending online before I decide that I can watch that certain movie.

I agree with Ryan. Robin Williams does creepy/dark very well. He was also good in Final Cut.

I liked this movie. Quite a bit, in fact.

I especially liked the white on white look to the sets. I wish the ending would have been different - I felt the same way when I watched Unbreakable.

I was in the business for a long time. There's a lot of reality there, sans the creepy/stalker/psycho stuff. We had to print every single negative individually - so when a regular customer brought film in a couple times a week for years we couldn't help but get to know them. Birthdays, holidays, vacations, weddings, honeymoons, and other stuff. We caught a employees in a couple of my labs printing their own copies but it was rare.

Robin Williams was also excellent in Insomnia (another non comedic role). My buddy worked at a local print lab about 15 years ago (long before I was into photography). I remember going to his work and the whole back room (they were a major lab in the Los Angeles area) was covered with nudie prints they had duplicated from all the amateur pornographers.

It's an uncomfortable topic, and most people don't seem to like it. Nobody wants to think about what goes on behind the scenes, whether it be what seems like the ideal dreamy home life or the obscure services that most people don't give a second thought about. Photo developing is a weird service, we're handing some of our most private to a complete stranger and expect them to maintain absolute confidentiality. The only other place I know of that does it has a million safety/privacy policies (ie. justice system, medical services)

I think it's brilliant.

Watching it right now and while I think making prints of strangers and passing them off as your family photos is creepy, I agree with the statement that I find the movie more sad than anything. I can't imagine going home to just a hamster every night...

You're saying no mature men lives alone happily?

Nope...don't recall saying that, but I do think that no mature man without any family or friends lives alone happily. I'm sure plenty of people love the bachelor lifestyle, but that's not representative of his character's life.
