  1. All I have to say is wow!!! these are all handheld, my arms are now officially rubber!! my big ball head should be here this week, will make a huge difference, especially with the wimberly. First day out because weather has been crappy. -3 today with snow flurries, last week it was nicer than most of our summer last year so go figure!! got some great shots, mostly keepers  , shot wide open for the most part due to it being so cloudy and overcast. Just enjoyed myself immensely. Whole new ball game now, just have to get use to it, much different animal than my previous lenses.........

Warning broad band and bird pornography- first time ever catching this in the wild

STILL VERY UNHAPPY WITH DOWNSIZING. FM plugin worked great with d1x and d100 but not so with D2h. The originals were awesome as were the prints. Got to figure it out yet

    original.

Great shots Keith. I can't believe how envious I am. That is one monster lens. It weighs over two lbs more than my D2H + 300 2.8. I can't believe that you shot hand held. :?

Which FM resize plug-in are you using? I have the FM Resize Pro PI and it works great with the D2H files. I've been thrilled with it.

  5. Thanks Gordon and Bryan, look forward to getting this thing on a ball head and wimberly set up! thanks for taking the time to comment

  6. Hi Frank, Im using the FM pro presenter, I take it your plug in is updated from mine? worked great with the d1x and d100, not happy with the resizing on the d2h though. These pics do not do justice to the originals........urghhhhhhh

Hopefully my ballhead shows up this week and can test it out. Spent allot of time shooting it off my knee. LOL.........got a couple good flight shots of a duck, goose, and seagul, so all these considering, pretty pleased. Luv the lens, but it is one bazooka, not sure what I was expecting. LOL

    Keith,

I'm not familiar with that PI. I bought mine about a month ago, and it really works well with the D2H. You should give it a try.

  8. Frank

Frank is yours the resize pro, I see they make it specifically for the D2h and for up sampling or down sampling. that seems to be new

Mine is the web presenter pro 1.1 and still has it as current............so I can't upgrade that one.

    thanks

    Keith,

Yes, mine is Resize Pro for the D2H. I think it was $24.99. Well worth it I think. It has a setting to reduce noise, which is also an option in my FM Intellisharpen II FM plug-in. Between the two of these, I now don't mind shooting at ISO settings of 320, 400, or even 500. As long as the exposure is pretty close, the noise is managed very well by these two tools.

  10. yeowza! nice stuff but I WARNED YOU AGAINST POSTING pictures with this lens. Watch for intense activity in the lens lust column. :^)

  13. Very nice Keith amazing for handheld I cant wait to see when you get the sidekick and ballhead. Very cool looking duck

  14. Keith,

Those are fantastic shots. I can't imagine hand holding that lens. Just curious - what ball head are you ordering for that size of lens?

  15. which do you like???

Thanks everyone, appreciate you taking the time to comment. Besides carrying the beast, I thoroughly enjoyed myself, whole new ball game at 550mm + crop factor. Usually too far away, so life is good! Will take me a bit to get used to as it handles exposures differently then other lenses but up for the challenge ;-)

Flew, thanks for your help yesterday on post processing, we were trying to see which action worked better in web resizing as I have not been happy in how my d2h files resize, not sure we figured out what was better........

anyways we did play around with post processing. check this link out, we have 3 posted, out of the three, do you like #1, 2 or 3 ? I know this is personal preference, but curious as to your thoughts!

Would like to start a new thread specifically on resizing ;-)

  16. You're horrible!!! Just when I was having such a great love affair with my new 70-200VR, you come along and try to tempt me away - be gone, you devil, be gone!!!
These are simply amazing. #1 is a framer for sure!
