Well not the VERY 1st shot, but the 1st shot I'm showing.... :p

We both love this lens. It is so much easier to get a shot, in focus, no camera shake, and we're very pleased with it's performance.

I shot this with no set up, just a quick, "Hey look this way..." 8)

  2. Nice shot, Ken.

I too really rate this lens. On my recent trip to Rome I had the 24-120 and a 17-55 and I was really impressed by the way the 24-120 measured up.

It was too hot to carry a bag so I had to decide on one lens when we went out, and 2 days out of three I took the 24-120. Reasons varied: I thought I might need a longer telephoto range or I thought we were going to be out until the evening light and I didn't want to carry a tripod (too old, too fat).

In situations where weight and convenience are not issues I would always choose to take the 17-55, 70-200 and a tripod. But where I can only take one lens for a variety of shooting situations I absolutely love the 24-120. I'm sure you're going to love it too.

And if the time comes when you think you want something better, don't get rid of it, because there is nothing better at what it does.
