This is my first time I ever took action/soccer photos of my kids, and their first practice and first game! The practice this week was at night and so I could only use my 50 f/1.8 and my feet following the sidelines! Then bright sun for yesterday's game, tough with lots of shadows and action! Lots of fun though. Talked alot with a Canon Dad who owns a 40D! (The D80 only got 3 clicks on continuous mode, his did 6!) But I was happy! My kids now call me the Papperazti (sp?).... lol

Good first outing with the action shots, Carol.

Watch out though. It's like a disease. You start innocently enough like this, then you see some guy with a 40D, or a Nikon D200 and a 70-200mm lens, and the next thing you know you're stacking up lenses and bodies like there's no tomorrow! lol

You framed/cropped these nicely. It looks like you follow the game well, which is important. Knowing the game and anticipating things helps get more good shots. Keep your shutter speed as high as you can (definitely over 1/640).

The more you shoot, the better you'll get. Have fun, and nice job on these!
