    I went to work today; blah
    boss was away; yay
    had a staff meeting; blah
    sat down to do real work; blah
    stared at PC screen for 5 minutes; blah
    did nothing; blah
    wasn't productive; blah
    said "Stuff it!"; blah
    took the rest of the day off; YAY!...

    Got home;
    ate lunch;
    wandered out on the deck;
    saw a few Painted Ladies flying around;
    went inside;
    got D100;
    got world's second crappiest tripod;
    got Sigma 80-400mm OS;
    went back outside;
    took these:

    Needless to say that fired the enthusiasm and I decided I needed to go to the beach and photograph some of them there feathered flying thingies. I'll bung them in a new thread when I get done processing.

    All in all it beat staying at work.

    Very nice. I appreciate you sacrificing work to capture such beautiful flutterbys. :biggrin:

    The color in both is just amazing.

    Thanks for sharing.
  3. Let's see, work/photography, work/photography, I'd say you made the right choice and your images prove it. Good job Neil.

    Definitely made the right choice in skipping work....it was in the stars for you to catch these beauties! They are gorgeous...the color and detail....well worth a missed day of work IMHO.

    Thanks guys, I am in no doubt that I'd made the right choice. I'd already warned the boss the day before that I was vacillating over coming to work that day. Obviously the next day that feeling got worse so I acted on it. :biggrin:

    Good question Harris. Needless to say after going inside and getting my gear they flew off. So I just waited a couple of minutes and back they came. In fact the Swallowtail hadn't been there earlier. I have no idea why they stayed so still for so long, but I wasn't about to argue.

    Thanks again for all the kind comments.
