This was also posted on dpr, but I'm putting it up here too for those that can't stand it over there right now
These 2 shots were taken within seconds of each other. The 1st had a WB of Sunny -1, the 2nd shot has a WB of Auto -1. While I did adjust the tone curves to better match each other, I didn't tuch the colors themselves. IMO, Sunny WB shot is MUCH more accurate, but still not perfect. Although still not perfect, I wonder if this had something to do with the setting of Color Mode III? Also, I set the Hue to +3, just because it was the way I have my 2H set up. plus, Yves does it that way, and if it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me in most cases ;) I think they're both too cool blue, but esp the 2nd shot w/Auto WB. Your thoughts? Shot w/D2X/200-400VR + TC 1.4

Steve,

The first shot is more pleasing to the eye but may not be as "accurate" as the second shot. Try using a gray card and comparing the Auto WB with what the gray card produces. My D2X (which I only got late yesterday) has so far shown amazingly accurate WB on Auto. I use Adobe RGB, Mode II, no hue or tone compensation. I can already tell that the Auto WB on the D2X is far more accurate than that of my D2H.
