Too much background. Open up your lens and shoot as wide as it will go.

that's the kind of feeling i was getting as well.

too much going on in the background, if possible perhaps try shooting without the tc and opening up the lens to 2.8 and see if you can isolate the subjects more.

I did shot without the tc for a while...

In fact, 11 of the 20 images I posted were at 2.8...

Shots 9 through 19...

Shots 1-8 and 20 are at f/4...

Sidenote... the pic of the ref was when she had to tell a lady to shut up or leave... the mother was screaming to her kid on the field and calling the opposing team losers and such...

Some people... ha...

Good shots - keep working on it

Make notes of your shot settings - then change 1 at a time (if needed) and see how they turn out

I have been messing with SS lately - my latest shots were at 1/1000sec and my ball pictures are much better

At 1/400, 1/500 the ball can be blurry
