Anyone have any examples of the 200-400 at night?

I've searched and read all the 200-400 posts and no one seems to have any

    thanks

  2. Chuck, good post. I used to shoot f-ball, but don't recall seeing any shooters with that lens. Baseball I see it often. It's f4, should be acceptable with a camera that will work at higher ISO. Football, especially pro games, are very well lighted.
    Anyone have sample photos?

  3. welcome to the forum, chuck
    glad to have you here

what body will you be shooting
f/4 can limit you in the LIGHT issue
if you have a D700 or D3, that might not be as big of an issue

    I'm shooting a d3

    have been using 300mm 2.8 and a 70-200 2.8

i would love to have the range of the 200-400 if it will perform

hoping someone can show me if i am talking myself into something i do not need!

  5. I don't think I would use the 200-400 VR past daytime conditions. It has a tendency to AF hunt. I'd stick to a 300/400 2.8 and a 70-200 VR. It's not as fast to lock on like a prime, such as a 500/600 f/4.

  7. Nice shots. And while I'd love to own the 200-400 (and on my Canon side I curse them for not having an equivalent lens) I think even with high ISO an aperture of "only" f4 just wouldn't cut it. I'd much rather be shooting with the 300 f2.8, or if money was not an issue, obviously the 400 f2.8.
