I've made it out to this particular show for the last 3 years and I have to say, I have a complete blast trying to capture these guys. Airplanes aren't my favorite subject, but they certainly are a great way for me to TRY to knock off the winter time rust of not shooting any photos at all. :smile:

All of these were taken with my D200 and Nikon 18-200:

Very clean shots. Just goes to show it's not all new equipment and big lens. The crops are nicely done.

I just can't afford the new equipment and big lenses....I want it, but I just can't afford. I'll keep saving until I can and continue using what I got.

Thanks for taking the time to look and comment, J.

great shots

the only thing i can give is use CW or spot meter, or add some + comp to expose the planes properly rather then the sky

other wise great shots :biggrin::biggrin:

My favorite is #7. It really shows the siz difference between the f-15, A-10, and is that a mustang (I don't know my old airplanes)?

Nice set of images. This was my first time at the Andrews air show. Unfortunately everything in the air is backlite, so having a proper exposure can be challenging. Additionally, the closest runway that is typically used was under construction, so that put the aircraft further out as well. Here are some of my catches from the air show (most taken with the D300 + 300mm f/4 lens with the 1.4TC and some taken with the D700 + 70-200mm f/2.8 lens).
