Hi folks,
like I promised I'll continue this year with a 52 weeks run.

I've learned a lot about my camera and lenses last year and, as sideeffect I've seen places in my surrounding by taking the pictures of the crosses, I've never seen before.

This year theme is: "My home, my village, my town seen through the AF-S 24-70mm 2.8 G lens".

Regards
Klaus

Very nice Klaus. So glad to see you back. I always enjoy your work. That's a fine looking dog. Have fun with him/her in the snow?

What a sweet doggie! He appears to really be enjoying the snow - something I would certainly NOT do.

I am really looking forward to a weekly trip to Tettnang.

I'm glad to see you signed up for 2015, Klaus. Your 2014 thread was one of the most interesting, and I'm sure that will be the case this year as well.

Week 02/52: Tettnang - Barock Palace

Tettnang was the center of of the County of Monfort in former times and it still has 3 palaces.
Today I show you the newest and most famous one.

1712 the construction started. Count Anton III gave order to Christoph Gessinger, the architect to plan a new palace.
1753 the palace burnt down. The wall kept standing but everything within was gone with the flames,
1758 until 1770 it was rebuilt and Count Franz Xaver invited all well known artists to work on the palace.
1780 the county of Monfort was sold to Austria because of debts.
1787 the last Count of Monfort, Anton IV, died in the brewery inn in Tettnang.

(1) The palace seen from the south west. Renovated last summer

(2) The view from the south. The left stairway tower is still unrenovated.

(3) The eastern side with part of the garden

(4) One of the four staircases

(5) Seen from town - old style

More pictures of the inside will follow...

What a grand historical edifice to grace your town. I'd enjoy hearing more about the last Count of Monfort, Anton IV. Left no heir and died in a brewery... quite a story.

Fantastic series of images, and I love the historical significance. You took an outstanding set, and I especially love the contrast in colors in the fourth photo. Well done!

#4 is my favorite this week Klaus. Like in the book, Pillars of Stone (great read btw) - you've captured the imposing structure that the will of man can create. Well imaged.
