Originally, I told you I would join in using my MF Nikkor 50mm 1:1.2, mounted on the Z 7. I have/had one more 50, the 50mm 1:1.4D I used to shoot on my D3, but decided to go with the super-fast MF lens. For the Z system, I only have/had the kit zoom, 24-70/4, that came with it. Use it with all sort of adapted MF lenses and the Nikon teles

Last week, they got me, I weakened: a local online dealer got an advent's one day special rebate on the Nikkor Z 50mm 1:1.8 S lens, a lens that had it's price lowered for the holiday shoppings before. Order it on Dec. 5th, get another 15% off... Picked it up on Saturday at a PickUp location.

So now I have 2 to chose from, and I might use them both (if allowed to), and compare what one can do (extraordinary sharp, crisp images), vs. the other (get bokehliscious 1.2 shots) I will only use 1.2, or state if not.

Looking for a challenge I shot this clump of decorative grass that was, as Bob Dylan said, blowing in the wind.
Hard to pick a focus point so I left that up to luck. Nice colors but would have liked some more focused areas. Closing down for some more dof brought the background into focus and made for a truly lousy image.

Surprise: Shooting the advent calendar, I tried different angles with the 50/1.2. The ones in the Day 2 thread have practically nothing in focus, as the lens is soft so wide open, focused so closely... but then, I got this one - I was surprised how MUCH actually turned out to be in focus - or close enought to appear with at least a little sharpness

Day 3 - maybe should have been the main shot, but the reverse of a blade always feels wrong to me as a primary image. Anywhos, I like the patterning of the stone in relation to the knife better in this shot.
