Completely different subject matter, but I couldn't pass up a chance to record this image during the quest for my Day 22 image.

This is the Normandie Hotel as I found it this morning:

Here's an image from Wikipedia depicting how it looked before abandonment:

Looks like focus was not the issue, but rather the Z6 IBIS could not manage the long exposures...
For the piano shot, it was a long exposure and I moved the camera, slowly swinging it in a vertical motion.
For the chair/light shot I manually shifted focus during the long exposure.

I guess I should have added that info to my original bucket post. Ooops.

Playing with gelled flashes is fun, and not something I do enough of. So after my cop car imitation, I tried to create a version of something I'd seen in a Dave Hobby column (Strobist) some time ago.

This is me reacting to Roland's latest alien invasion :D

Thought I would show my steps with iPad shot conversion to BW.

First original after a little crop

Then adjustments using built in software from apple, for that darker sky I like.

Then a straight conversion to BW monotone using Snapseed with additional levels.

And then pushing envelope to a more Noir darker sky look using levels and software built in for my final image. Debated about doing anything more than above, but the ultra hard midday Miami sun created so many ultra dark areas around the city, I was inspired to go all out below,

I wanted to make a photograph that differs from the countless others captured at Liberty State park, a popular location for viewing Manhattan. These two definitely do not qualify as "different."

A garden variety shot popular with the selfie crowd at the north end of the park. I wanted to smooth the water and the clouds, but the little stopper and f/32 was not enough on this bright morning.

An image that is a bit better (I think) is in my main thread.
