So great that you can visit your birthplace and capture the sights. Something I'll have to do as well sometime.

These are images that will mean so much to your family!! You are inspiring me to go and get photos of the places where I have lived.
It's a fountain, Phil. It wasn't there when I lived there. Instead the old main street was there.

Were you n Munich for the Oktoberfest?
Excellent shots and it's very nice to see your hometown. I currently live about 5 miles from where I grew up, so seeing old homes, schools, and parks is pretty easy.

No Bill, my younger daughter lives there - in Harlaching. So we visit her from time to time.
For the girls it's a chance to go shopping - for me to take pictures.
And, to be correct - I don't like a bunch of drunken people. And at least, it's Corona time...

Oktoberfest this year would have been a superspreading event, like Sturgis here in the US. But I'm sure Germans would have been more sensible than to hold a such an event in the time of Covid.
In 1970-71, when I was in the US Army, I was stationed at the McGraw Casern, which is in Giesing, next to Harlaching. I have to say, there was a lot of drunkenness in Munich, and quite frankly my friends and I were no exception on numerous occasions. Less than a month after Oktoberfest, on November 11, Fasching gets underway, and it seemed as if there was a continuous, round-the-year festival.

Klaus, you are the master at nighttime urban shooting! A great collection. And yes, a camera store should be a cathedral!!!

(2) Mini burger - approx. 2" in diameter
(3) New meets old
(4) The cathedral to the left, St. Martin church, the Hindenburg bridge and the Marriot hotel to the right
(5) The "old" town of Cologne, built in the 50's. Cologne was the most bombed town in WWII...
