Critique 2020 Octoberfest - Morty - Hardcore - D700 with Holga 60 f8 - Day 31

Well, great fun with massive constraints, not able to move far from flat. And chose the plastic Holga 60mm f8 lens. Fully manual, can't even be added with proper 60mm had to enter it as 58mm.
Not that it will make much difference as it is so...toyish.
Difficult to find keepers but here we go:

Well it's not the sharpest knife in the drawer but you have done well with it.

I think it worked well on that first picture. The softness adds to the scene.

Thanks, I was actually a bit shocked at how soft it is.
Will see if I can find better scenes for it today.

Agreed, kinda soft, but a nice shot. That's what is great about the Oktoberfest. You get to experiment with a lens for 31 day, trying different things, and posting the best shot you could muster for each day. It is super challenging (for me, at least), but a good way to get used to a lens.

Will try to stick to one shot today. Best of, or in this case least worse of
"Storm" Alex outside so all rainy and grey and windy. :-(

Interesting shot, and nice B&W use here. Seems like it is more in focus closer up that at the gate (white line on the left seems sharpest). Was the intent to focus on the footsteps? Just curious...

Yes I was aiming for focus on the footsteps. I also have other shots with focus on the gate.
The manual focus on the plastic lens is loose, it moves the entire lens as well as what it is supposed to.

I like the shot—the nearest footprint is a key element of it. The setup looks menacing.

Oops - did it again. Commented yesterday and forgot to hit "post reply".

01 - interesting effect this thing is going to give you this month. Only suggestion for use I would have is that I would probably use it at night and in foul weather for monochrome conversions. But that's me.

02 - I like this one, the comp with the feet really draw me into the image.

Very poor weather today. Still the same lens. 10 seconds after this shot a kid rode his push bike in this puddle. No harm to the camera which had been tucked away. Kid's trousers and top were not so lucky. An unhappy mum too.
