Usually we will be enjoying the pool at this time of the year but this year things are different completely. The pool is locked and we can only watch it through the glasses.

I wanted to experiment with my 14-30 f4 to see how close I could get to a subject. I was only a few inches away from this closest black-eyed susan in this shot this morning. I've seen some interesting shots of close up flowers in mountain scenes with a wide angle and hope to try it out soon.

For me growing flowers is what I do in a typical (and not so typical) summer.

Phil showing a pool ...

That's an invitation. Coming back from a hot day in the office (250 yrs old building, no air conditioning of course), it's time to cool down in the pool we set up. The children and my wife were in there most of the afternoon, and had friends that joined them.

When I came back, the air was still around 30 °C / 85 Fahrenheit, and I wanted to go in. Mayla heard that - in she was! Double the fun when dad joins ;)

What's summer then, for me?

Hang on a bench.
Get out my old flip flops.
The ones with the beer opener built in.
And then use these for what they're intended to...

D600 with 24mm f2.8 Vivitar manual and 19mm f3.5 Vivitar manual. I often forget to change my manual settings as I did with these first two shots .... they were shot with the 24 f2.8 not the 105 f2.8 as indicated.

I got started late this afternoon when I usually have a cocktail, so that seemed a fitting start to the meme. The high depth of field makes the foreground glass almost three dimensional.

It also was time to check the status of the garden. The wide angle made it possible to get the entire long ear in a closeup photo.

Glad to be "meming" again since I missed the winter meme.

It's a great hobby, Terri. And you will find that the wide angle can be amazingly useful for flower shots.

Nothing like having the ocean, the family, and a beer can opener you cannot lose, Roland. Looks like you are all set!
