24-120 VR/f4 or 16-85 and IR - anybody tried them?

I need a medium range zoom lens for my IR photogprahy.

I'm wondering how either the Nikon 24-120 VR/f4 or the 16-85 handle IR photography.

My old 24-120 VR did a nice job, with almost no hot spots or flares.

Right now my only lens for IR is my 24-70 and images frequently seem a little "washed out" in the center.

I'd appreciate any suggestions as to good IR lenses...

Thanks!

Here are a few that were recently shot with my 24-120 f/4 VR:

Thanks, Bert. These images look pretty darn good! That first one is especially nice!

Any trouble with flares or looking "washed out" in the middle?

I haven't encountered that with this lens, although I have with other lenses (such as the Sigma 10-20). I didn't have to do anything special to the middle of these images.
