Well, I've put an order in for one. Being told it's about a 1-2 month wait. Annoying, but I can wait. The 24-70 in the meantime isn't too shabby (just a little short!). Hopefully I'll have it before the Autumn/Fall landscape photo "season".
Review 24-200 Z review

One would hope that the 24-200 would be back in full swing soon since Nikon is listing it as one of the kit deals with the new Z5.
OK, so here is some more insanity (my insanity, that is) for us to ponder.
I might be off the 24-200 Z lens train. Hear me out and thoughts please.
I have always been a fan of Tamron lenses. Back when I got my first DSLR, the Nikon D50 the only lens I could afford was a 28-200 screw drive lens. Not the best quality, but it was better than anything else I had before.
Since then, I've been seeing the Tamron quality improve to equal and in some cases surpass the OEM lenses. I've had several Tamron lenses over the years and still have 2 that I use frequently - the 70-200/2.8 G2 and the 17-35/2.8-4.
I've been nosing around an looking at the new 28-200/2.8-5.6 they have out now for Sony e-mount.
By all metrics, it seems to be slightly better than the 24-200 Z. Apertures are faster, edge to edge sharpness seems to be the same if not slightly better. I'm not worried about the 24 to 28mm difference. I'm used to 28mm on the ride end and if I really need wider, I already have the Tamron 17-35 to fall back on.
The price is almost $200 less expensive on the Tamron than the Nikon.
I'm in no hurry to get the 24-200 as the 24-70 is superb and I can always bring along the Nikon 70-300.
Tamron has not stated when they are going to bring out the Z mount lenses, but they are coming...so I'm contemplating pumping the brakes and waiting to on the Tamron options.

24 mm vs 28mm would be a deal breaker for me. 28 just isn't really that wide.

I think that 28 sits ok to me because of my history with that focal length and the fact that I’m basically the anti Paul. Lol.

I HAVE the 24-200 and can’t wait for the 24-105, at which time the 24-200 will get sold. 24-105 is the perfect range for me, it is the ONLY thing I miss from my brief affair with Sony. I have zero complaints about the 24-200 though, it well exceeded my expectations.
If I could go somewhere I’d probably do the same
I loved the 24-105 I had back in my Canon days. I agree that it's a very useful FL range.

Since I don't cherish wide as much as some, I could also look into the Tamron 35-150/2.8-4.
That would be my perfect walk about. I have fond memories of using the Nikon 35-135/3.5-4.5 on my D700 and Df.

WOuld be nice if these choices were available for native Z too.
They may be in the future...although I do have f-mounts that I could share via adapter. Nice to have a 50-225 on the D500 as an option.
Luckily, as I mentioned before, I'm in no rush.

I am tempted by the 35-150mm but I’ve read a few comments on DPR about focus accuracy. I’m not sure if the later Nikon firmware updates fixed this? The 17-35/35-150 pairing is pretty ideal for the sort of shooting I do.
I guess we all have different needs, but I reckon for landscape, the 14-30 + 24-200 is a pretty good combo.
I'm not the biggest Tamron fan like you are, but the Tamron 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6 is a darn good lens. If Tamron does get around to making Z mount lenses, it'd be great for Z owners. On top of that, Tamron also has a 20mm f/2.8 FE prime, though I use the Samyang 18mm f/2.8 FE as my compact wide angle.
I even purchased the lens cheaper by putting a bid through Greentoe.com knocking $50 off retail price, while getting a full US warranty on the Tamron lens.
Between the Sony A7III and Z6 I actually prefer the Z6 body, but the Sony lens options is what's keeping me in the Sony camp for the time being when it comes to mirrorless.

24-105mm is a great all-purpose walk-around lens, and I've still got it on my list of future lenses to buy.... I tend to either go either for the long side of things (using a 100-400mm most of the time for walk around now -- and, yes, it's heavy!) or for macro and getting in real close to my subject, but at some point I probably will also add a 16-35mm to my lenses and work more with capturing a wider perspective on things, since right now the widest lens I have is a 35mm f/1.8. So far I've been sticking with native Sony lenses but I've been hearing a lot of good things about that Tamron 28-200mm......
I saw that too, about the focus accuracy, but it appears that you can correct it on the DSLR models with the TAP-IN console, which I already have. I'm guessing it is probably a lesser risk on mirrorless. I have Midwest Photo Exchange near me, so I can buy it there and if I did have issues with it, they are good about exchanges within 14 days.
I have owned so many all purpose lenses (>5x) and frankly I'm sick of them. They capture great family moments but never impressed me for their IQ. The 1st one was the 18-200 and I was excited to have 1 lens do it all, until I realized it did everything mediocre. My new iPhone 11 max pro camera is all I need for family vacations. The 24-120 was the 1st zoom I liked but was soon blown away by the 16-80dx. I am looking forward to the 24-105 if it's an f/4 lens
