Awwwww....just buy it :wink:

Or... get a used Nikon 55 2.8 micro for about $185 (I have one of those too)......it's even sharper just no AF (which you don't need anyway for macro)....depends on how much working distance you need...!! 8)

Hi Lisa...great to see that you made it over here too !!

The 200 f4 micro will focus down to 19"(1:1)....and yes, you can hand hold it (all of these were hand held and shot @ 1/250)...it is a bit heavy, however (42 oz)....so one can't carry it around ALL afternoon without a break... :wink:

That IS a heavy lens. Most of the macros I take, I am standing and sometimes looking down. That would pull me over for sure. Guess I'd have to lean on the ground and brace myself on my elbows as I find using a tripod for shooting insects to be cumbersome. Thanks for the info and thanks for posting these wonderful photos.

Thanks for your comments Gale... I really like the bees too...they aren't as hard as one might think to "capture"....that way my old body doesn't have to bend and stoop so much..!! :wink:
