3 days in Cape Breton

Discussion in 'Wanderlust and Travel' started by natethomas, Aug 23, 2008.

  1. My wife and I got back from a very quick three days in Cape Breton. I was born in Sydney, NS, and my family have a farm that they stay at each summer on the western side of Cape Breton.

We drove up in one day (900 miles), spent three days there, and then drove back in one day. I took about 16 hours each way, making for some long days.

I just wish we had had more time to do some more hiking. I also fly-fish and was only able to get a few hours one morning fishing for salmon. Last summer I caught two salmon in two days, but this year I didn't even raise a fish.

    A few shots:

My wife and I hiking in the Highlands Nat'l Park:

    Without the two of us:
    NIKON D200    ---    10mm    f/9.0    1/160s    ISO 400

We saw seven moose on the hike. Here are three:
    NIKON D200    ---    420mm    f/4.0    1/400s    ISO 400

    NIKON D200    ---    220mm    f/4.0    1/500s    ISO 400

    NIKON D200    ---    420mm    f/4.0    1/500s    ISO 400

My parents' dog with a few poses in the fields on their farm:
    NIKON D200    ---    17mm    f/20.0    1/13s    ISO 100

    NIKON D200    ---    17mm    f/13.0    1/250s    ISO 400

  2. The last pic is a real winner! I'd love to go there just for the music! And of course the landscape and people!
