3 hour wedding - Hampshire, England 30th August

Discussion in 'Formal Portraits and Weddings' started by Radiohead, Sep 7, 2008.

  1. I'm usually at a wedding for 10-12 hours and that offers me plenty of time to catch the moments I'm after. Last weekend was a very short one, and one that meant I had no bridal prep, speeches, dances and so on to get those moment.

It was also a blindingly hot and bright day. Even at f2.8 and ISO200 I was running into shutter speeds of 1/8000s. It meant being very careful where I shot people and it really tested the D3's dynamic range.

Anyhow, a flavour of the day:

Nice series............looks like you've captured the moment!!! I like image # 13, just something about it. Nice work.

  3. Great series, well done. Very nice B-W tones.

  4. Excellent black and white tones ! How did you do that? (if you don't mind sharing)

    Ronnie

  5. Your combination of B&W and color is wonderful. Your style definitely tells a story and brings you into the scene. Your such a craftsmen, Guy.

  6. Thank you

    Thanks Charles

Thanks Ronnie - my usual lazy mono workflow. Switch to grayscale in Lightroom 2, up the contrast and add a vignette. That's it.

I'm blushing here - thank you.

  7. Great results yet again, Guy.

  8. Nice work mate!!!
Great conversion too, give yourself a pat on the back !!

Beautiful shots, you handle the extreme light very well in the outdoor shots. What setting did you use for that, if I might ask?

  10. Great stuff Guy!
Esp. like the "confetti" shots and the bouquet one!

Hmm, sunny day WOW according to my mum those have been few and far between this year!

I fly "Home" to Wiltshire for visit tomorrow :)

Did, a short wedding week ago. Start at 10 and everyone had gone by 2:30! Kinda odd for me and NOT usual UK fare from my exp. Still finding some of these US weddings kinda different :)

  11. Love them, excellent work!

  12. Exposure, WB and DOF control are excellent! A great sense of 3d effect on the photos! :) I love em! Great job!

  13. Thanks all

Mainly AP with matrix metering unless backlit when I switched to spot.

  14. Very nice series Guy. From the last couple of weddings you have shared with us I see that you are fond of b&w tones. You always do a good job in conversion.

There is something about hands and rings together that says unity to me... #17

  15. Great series Guy!

    #23 is simply awesome!

A lovely set of shots! I have to say that most of the weddings I've been to of late I have not liked the majority of the shots. However these are simply stunning! I so much prefer the more "candid" shots from a wedding, even if some of them need to be staged a little.

The couple, family and guests will be thrilled I'm sure...

  17. Thank you very much

Thanks Paul - I think that's my favourite as well.

    Thank you :)

Love these images Guy! Wonderful work!

  20. If I could just mention something I noticed eg: #2 ,6, 7, 10, 12 , 13 at a glance , a lot of them seem to be wide angle with a lot of unused space that doesn't add to the picture - just being real picky here if you wanted c&c that is ....
