I'm in love with 35mm 1.8! It's so lightweight and renders sharp, crisp photos. Up until today, my everyday lens was the 17-55, and I can see the 35 1.8 replacing it. To be honest, I think I'm starting to like Primes A LOT. They are faster, lighter, and generally cheaper. come to think of it, I have more primes than Zoom!

I think I'm gonna sell my zooms and go all primes... they are Addictive!

Hi Joseph.

Congrats to your purchase. I saw the 35 on a friends D300 yesterday and was impressed.

I just sold my Nikon 24-70 and will use primes at the shorter focal range (means: below 100 mm) exclusively, as you can see in my sig.

It's more fun (to me, of course), and helps (me again) concentrating on the subject better.

Compared to the old 50/1.8, 50/1.4, and 35/2, the new 35/1.8 is noticeably bigger. The old lenses were tiny in comparison, especially the 50/1.8.

However, we now have a more complex lens formula even though it's a DX lens, and an internal AF-S motor, so it had to get bigger. It's still quite compact even if it's larger than the old lenses.

I also love the tiny, great-performing Pentax primes, though not enough to buy a second dSLR system. But if those Pentax primes were updated, they probably wouldn't be small anymore either!

True, but it's a midget compared to the 50mm 1.4G & the 50mm Sigma.

So amazing and flexible. I can only hope Nikon has a few more $200 DX tricks up it's sleeve.
