I would choose the G lens for its 9 round blades as they give circular bokeh at all apertures.

If YOU can't tell them apart then how can anyone truely help you?

Just sell the newer one to get the most dollars back.

The G has the built in motor, faster and nicer bokeh. For a classic, the manual focus would be a keep, but the D had to go...(even though I have one!)

well... i'm letting go of my D... my G however has an issue... it seems to slow down midway when trying to AF from .45 to infinity... so back to nikon it goes... hopefully they won't give me grief... thx for everyone's feedback... you guys may continue to discuss pro's and con's... I love to hear them :)
