Allan, after seeing Larry's (Ozarkshome) 600mm lens this past weekend, I can understand your desire. All I can say is keep saving and one will surely come your way.

  6. Gale,
I have the 500 afs 1, which I use practically all the time with the 1.4. Great lens, but all winter I wished I had more reach- eagles, other raptors, duck. The New England birds stay farther away than their Florida cousins.

  7. Well I lust after your 500 afs. Does that make you feel any better???

  8. I can see that, but you would rather have a 600. :)

  9. O the shame......... Yes it's true I would rather have the 600

Well, think about this: 300 2.8 with TC 1.4 is 420 at f4.0. Now factor the digital crop and now you have 630 at f4.0 with VR too... I guess that is not what you had in mind...

A serious question... Why would a VR be important since you'll be putting the 600mm f/4 on a stable tripod + gimbal head?

    Yes, I lust for the 600mm f/4 + 1.4x TC.

I know you do Allan, I was just kidding. Andrew, get the 300VR if you can swing the funds. I did and it is great..
