I have concluded the 70-200VR is a MUST own lens. The sharpness, color fidelity and bokeh is unparalled. It beats hands down every lens I have had before and represents $1600 very well spent. No doubt about it.

In my humble opinion this is one of my best bird captures ever thanks to this great lens. To those considering buying this lens I say don't waste any more time.

That's my 2 cents and I am sticking with it.

Its certainly a fine bird shot, Warren.

I captured a similar specimen with me 150mm Sigma and 1.4TC. Mines a bit overexposed though.

I've owned two but never used them much so I finally got over myself, sold one and bought an 85 1.4... which I use.

But it is an incredible lens!

Awesome shot!

It is an awesome lens. I just got back from an 11 day trip to Florida and took about 1500 pics. Most of them were with the 70 - 200. When I downloaded the pics I was amazed at the detail, color etc. of the pics. It's definitely worth the price.

Don't buy it - you'll never be happy with it.

Thanks Mike, more if you want....

Warren is totally wrong about this lens, it's sooooo slow, it's not sharp at all, sorry I ever bought it, I hardly ever use it, and in fact, I disliked it so much, I had it on the camera on the night table the first night I owned it so I could see it first thing in the morning! Pathetic, isn't it!!??

I like how you call it "the bigger Beast" !!!

Yeah I thought that one up myself LOL But it is a very nice Beast. I had the Canon's version back in my Canon days and I can tell you this the Nikon is my favorite, awesome lens.

Thanks for sharing more of your shots.

Oh and Warren I love your bird shot also and congrates. Now you need to get the little Beast LOL
