I was wondering if this lens 70 - 300 mm zoom lens 1:4 - 5.6 G work with a D40SLR? And is $125 a good price for it? (it's a used one, but rarely has been used.) TIA

It would not auto focus on a D40.

    Ok, thanks! :)

  4. Yeah, it won't autofocus and the G version of the lens didn't have an ED glass which made it a bit more prone to flare than the D version of newer VR AF-S model. You'll probably be happier with the image quality of the 55-200, which could probably be found in the same price range (though you obviously lose some range on the long end).
