These are some of the shots i took at a trackday for a BMW club here in Norway. What do you think of the results? I am pretty happy with them, all taken at 1/80 sec shutter time handheld. Feel free to give me some C+C on these.

  2. Wow

if you would have told me these were taken with a 70-200 VR, I wouldn't have even noticed the difference. These are the kinda pics you see from the 70-200 or 80-200 2.8, amazing. I love the 70-300 VR, a true 'hidden' gem (pro optic disguised as a consumer) in Nikon's line-up.

Having just tried my first attempt at shooting moving cars, I have a lot of respect for what you've done here. These are so sharp, and the panning is spot on.

I've wondered though, in shots like these would it be worth using a CP? Looking at your 1st 3 shots the windshields look opaque. What do you think?

I think he could just bring the contrast down a bit in PP
Not sure how great the CP would work at that sutter speed

Thanks everyone, your comments are appreciated

I haven't thought about the windshield thing until now actually. I did use a CP for all of these shots though. Maybe as Gale said, reducing the contrast a bit could fix it.

Excellent panning! That 70-300VR is a superb value. I've used one a few times and found it to be outstanding.

Thanks. For its price, the lens is a winner for sure.

this isnt' a contrast problem .. photos are overexposed .... look at the hoods and roofs of all the vehicles.
