Old Burial Hill in Marbleheads old town is one of the oldest cemeteries in New England and final resting place of many of the revolutionary patriots. The image below is a gravestone for Susanna Jayne who died August 8, 1776in the 45th year of her age. The headstone is encased in concrete for support. It's an amazing place to walk around note the names with views of the rooftops and Marbleheads harbor.

Just by coincedence was looking at some old images and noticed the date of her death was todays date but back in 1776.

Apparently, lots of symbolism in the carvings. If you look up Susanna Jayne Old Burial Hill, you’ll get a more detailed explanation of the carvings and some of their meanings. In the center of the square the skeleton holding the sun and moon in it’s palms while behind him is the scythe. In the upper corners angels and lower corners bats, and above the square an hourglass.
