80-200 2.8+KENKO 1.4 - Thanks for the advice!

Discussion in 'Lens Lust' started by Rui Lopes, Jul 14, 2007.

  1. Af-s? Af-d?
  2. The Kenko is for AF-D lenses. For AF-S lenses it is better to use the Nikon TCs.
  3. I use this combo sometimes as well. Judging from your shots, you have had equally good success with it.
  4. Hey Rui...

Congratulation on your new gear, and its great to hear that it's all that you had expected from it. I use the same set up and found it to be really great.... The 80-200 f/2.8 is probably one of my favorite lenses..... BTW, nice shots your getting from this combo...
  5. Watch for CA with the Kenko Pro 300 TCs. Mine performs well with a number of lenses I've tried and not so well with others. I used my Kenko 1.4 on my AF Nikkor 300/2.8 last week and was very disappointed at the heavy CA on some photos that I don't get from the lens otherwise.

I just got a Kenko Teleplus Pro 300 1.4 to use with my 80-200 AF-S.
    Mine seems to work fine.

Same for me, but the edges can get ugly! Stopping down to f/5.6 or 8 (effective) helps. Incidentally, focal length and f-stop are recorded correctly with the Kenko and AFS. I know some combos get "confused." Focus is unchanged, near as I can tell.
  8. Sorry I did not mean to imply that it would not work.

Nancy, i find it a tad soft wide open @200mm but acceptable...i was actually somewhat surprised at how well it performed at that focal length .....;-))
