I have the opportunity to purchase a Nikkor 80-200mm 2.8 D two ring for $500.

Problem: The owner states the manual focus doesn't work because the af/mf switch is missing.

Question: Is it worth the money to go ahead and purchase this lens? The lens works perfectly in AF mode and is in reasonable condition. How hard is it to fix this? In my years of shooting I have used MF less than 10 times so is it even worth fixing?

thanks!

It will cost you about $300 at aps to get it fixed. Might as well buy one in good condition for about $700. I'd offer $350 for it.

500 is to much. Wouldn't be as big of deal if the M/AF switch was just cracked (which is common). But it missing is a bigger deal to me.
As others have stated. Ones in perfect working condition can be had in the 700.00 range. Id look elsewhere.
I have one & just love it. It is the best lens in this focal range you can buy for the money.
