I'm sure i'm not the only one to ever wonder about this. I've recently bought the 85mm and now my 50mm seems to get no use. I can't seem to decide whether to keep the 50 or not. Thoughts/comments appreciated. :?:

btw, I also feel that the 85 is simply a better lens(build quality and photo quality), but they're both very good.

Looking at your lens list, I see you have the 85 mm in both f/1.4 and f/1.8. If that's true I'd sell the f/1.8, but probably keep the 50 mm.

I'd get rid of the 85mm f1.8 before the 50mm f1.8. The 50mm will be more useful for indoor portraits for half and full-length portraits. Personally, I'd keep them all!

Agreed, sell the 85 1.8, after using the 1.4 you won't be going back...
The 50mm does have its use, obviously being wider enables you to be closer.
Also the 50mm is a smaller lens, and less obtrusive, also it weighs practically nothing (comparitively) can always fit in the bag!

Waiting for the 30 1.4 Sigma!

I would sell the 85/1.8, keep the 50/1.8, and buy a 50/1.4. The 50/1.8 is better above f5.6 while the 50/1.4 if better below f5.6. If you like low light indoors shots the 50/1.4 would be better. IMO
