This little fellow had his head buried in a cornflower for at least five minutes, very unusual behaviour.

I think this is known as a 'solitary bee'. Apparently they live alone; it certainly spent a long time chasing off other honey bees and bumble-bees which were also feeding on it's patch.

105 VR on Aperture priority. I have tried using the macro position on the selector control on my D70s, but find I get better images using aperture priority. Is this a standard or am I doing something wrong?

Charming little fellows, aren't they? Difficult to get them in flight but I like your front flight picture. I alway shoot aperture priority with macros.

Isn't it amazing how gentle they are when we are shoving huge lenses in their faces, nice images.
